Everything I’ve read is Wentz is a dick.

Wentz may not be great, but I like him a helluva lot more than Howell. Still only 32. Has an All Pro season in his past. Good size and tools, and a lot of experience to draw from.

I like this move. Relieved might be a better way to describe it.

Trade! The #Vikings are trading QB Sam Howell to the #Eagles, per me and
@TomPelissero
It’s a 5th in 2026 and 7th in 2027 to MIN, while PHI Howell and  6th in 2026. Minnesota, which recently hosted Carson Wentz on a visit, now has a QB opening. And Philly gets more QB depth.

....and Brosmer helps with this decision. Word is the staff loves Brosmer. JJ-Carson-Max is a tight QB room. Kudos on making a quick decision on a guy (Howell) not working out.

Yeah, nice to get some decent comp back from Howell too. The emergence of Brosmer let this happen. I heard mixed reviews on Wentz. Think he was young and arrogant and I'm guessing seeing Foles win the Super Bowl when he got hurt had to be a hit to the ego. But past teammates have spoken glowingly about him so who knows? Now that he's older, he may have mellowed out.

Regardless, his physical ability is better than Howell and his career accomplishments are stronger. If we needed him to start, he can give us better play than Howell or Rypien.

Hopefully we never need Wentz to play and this move doesn't really mean much other than an extra 7th rounder.

I've seen vague stories about him but nothing very definitive.

I'd say our team chemistry is strong enough to ensure that no one guy can mess it up, and he's a clear upgrade over the dynamic duo of Howell and Rypien.

I think the meaning lies in that Howell just didn't pan out and they need a reliable QB2. Brosmer is 100% QB2 in 2026. Wentz is a vet in systems that are similar to what KOC runs. Carson still has some gas in the tank, certainly for 2025. I don't think any NFL team is excited about starting QB2 compared to QB1 but there is nuance to the QB2 position.

Interesting...Maroon said it well, relieved is a good word for it.

Kudo's to the team for getting comp for Howell and recognizing they had an issue in the QB room.

I have reservations about Wentz, just based on everything we've heard about him over the years...But his experience/perspective should be helpful to a 22 year old JJM.

That experience was sorely missing b4

He's matured, guaranteed. I'm sure a decent part of Carson's visit yesterday was mindset and attitude. Slow to hire, quick to fire is a mantra that I subscribe to and they did that with Howell to their credit. Additionally, they have more ammo to get a WRer in a trade if they go that route. Win/win.
