JJM: 'We were humming'

Interesting commentary from McCarthy. Talks about watching film on a team doesn't necessarily mean that's what he'll see come game-day. Talks about off-platform throws, which is what he'll end up excelling at.

Also: "J.J. McCarthy has some pretty big expectations for his first year under center as the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, but he’s got plenty of support in his corner.

Not only is quarterback-whisperer Kevin O’Connell his coach, but he’s also apparently been getting a bit of help from his fellow Michigan brethren Tom Brady. McCarthy brought up Brady when asked about his film-study habits, noting that Brady had helped him develop a weekly study routine."

Loved watching that interview. He studied film from their first preseason game, then found out in the first practice it was irrelevant. Someone told him that as a "rookie" that is going to be the norm, teams will have a different approach to a new guy.

But he took that practice, learned from it and carved them up the next day. Absolutely love it.

This! I was wondering if someone would watch the presser and take this exact thing away from it as I did. I blow JJ's horn (phrasing) WAY too much here, so I leave additional commentary out sometimes. But this is him, that high level processor, always computing input....taking those lessons and applying them to a better outcome. Daily.

This is the guy.

I think that's been the calling card of JJ through OTAs, mini camp, and training camp.  He may have a rough stretch here or there, but he learns and bounces back incredibly quick.  He wants to be great and has the inner drive to get there.  Not many QBs have that in the NFL and even less that are his age.

And to piggyback off of this thought, the rough patches are SO important to the growth. And seeing the growth from KOC's perspective is highly encouraging, keep loading up his plate, he can handle it.
