Stafford's sore back must have LA gripping a bit
#1
McVay can say what he wants publicly, but this ongoing back issue has to be majorly concerning for their outlook in 2025. Backs are always tricky things and Matt is 37 years old. Was supposed to practice last Friday....didn't. Was supposed to practice yesterday.....in street clothes, didn't. They've got time to be extra cautious yet and maybe that's whats happening, but something to keep an eye on.

Agreed. Back issues don't heal up like a scratch or a pulled muscle. Anything neurological (or that touches the neurological system) is kid gloves territory. My recollection is that Stafford has a history of bad back. And at 37 years old...it's not like he's 22.

Their depth chart (in order) is Jimmy Garoppolo, Stetson Bennett and Dresser Winn?
If they are hitching their wagon to Garoppolo in the event that Stafford can't go (which they effectively are), I can think of worse things. I liked him in SF. He had five full seasons with completion rates between 67-69.1%

Thought the Rams made a big mistake by not going after Darnold, would have been the perfect fit for their system and would have secured the future of the position for them.

I sure wish I still had my 37-year old back. Even if Stafford is ready week 1, every hit is going to be a concern. I once heard a former QB say that playing QB against a good pass rush is like getting in a car accident every week.

Agree with you on Jimmy G. He's not Stafford but the Rams can win a lot of games with him.

Stafford is as tough as anybody out there. But back problems can humble the best of them. Hopefully he will be recovered by season opener. Garoppolo has his own injury history.

My wife laughs at me whenever he is playing or when I talk about Jimmy G. She call's him my "Man Crush" based on how much I like him over the years he has been around. I can't disagree with her! lol... I have always secretly wished he could have worn the purple as our backup or starter. As far as Stafford goes, LA could be in a worse position looking around the league at current scheduled QB2's. In reality, my only wish now that our Vikings QB2 was as clear.

in the video of him in street clothes yesterday, he looked cooked.

Rams resigning him to 50 mil per season.....good luck?
