Cowherd at it again
#1
Are the Vikings propping up JJ McCarthy? Yeah, I think they are to a degree. They're trying to boost his confidence. But to argue this is 100% manufactured hype is ridiculous.

Never understand why people get upset about predictions, good or bad. Has nothing to do with results.

Yeah they mostly just said Vikings fans need to be patient. I agree.

I have noticed that we seemed to be getting more glowing JJ McCarthy reports from his teammates during the offseason than we have lately for whatever reason.

This isn't a prediction though. Predictions are just entertainment. This is making an argument that there is a concerted effort by the Vikings to hide the "real truth" about JJ McCarthy. That he's been bad in camp and the Vikings are covering it up. I mean real tinfoil batshittery.

I do sorta wonder if they might not be referring to those Buckeye Nation clips that went around social media a couple weeks ago, ostensibly showing McCarthy throwing bad balls left and right. In those clips it's hard to see the jersey numbers, but one was actually Cousins two years ago. One was Howell. Another was McCarthy, but from minicamp his rookie season. I can't believe veteran journalists would fall for that, but who knows? Those posts got a lot of attention from people who should know better.

It's a weird narrative that Cowherd is pushing.  He does have real sources in the league but I think there would be more leaks about issues with JJM showing up in various places if it were true, versus one guy peddling a story that no one else has said a word about.

At this point I think he's just a woman scorned.  We sent his true love Uncle Sammy packing and Colin is out for revenge.  If you've witnessed what a Darnold-obsessive he's been over the years it's not hard to believe that's what this really is.

Last years preseason game JJ looked pretty good. What little I see this training camp JJ looks indecisive.

Im confident KOC can manage his game. Early on, lean on Defense, special teams, run game and easy read throws. Then build from there.

Also sounds like the Vikings Defense might be one best we have had in a while.

This really shouldn't have to be said at this point. But sports radio/tv is for entertainment, hot takes and engagement. If you're looking for real reporting free of opinion and spin you're in the wrong place.

Cowherd specifically is incredibly transparent about this fact. He's repeatedly said he has to fill 15 hours a week of air time. And if he filled it with his honest takes the show would be real boring and he'd be out a job. All these guys would.

I listen to him a few times a month, and only if he's on when I'm driving. But since 2019 I can't think of another host (that's what he is, not a journalist) of his stature who's consistently been more complimentary of MN.

From day one he's gushed over KOC. Last few years frequently praises, KAM, the Wilfs, BFLO and the org as a whole. Ironically, last year was quite up on McCarthy. At one point saying he was most likely to end up the best of the young NFCN QB's

To those who get worked up over his hot takes, avoid his radio show. More so avoid click bait articles and videos posting snippets. Those have one purpose. Ironically this thread is an example of it working. Check out the stand alone videos he does to recap each week in the NFL. That's where you get his real opinion without the dramatics to drive engagement.

I look forward to the stage of the season where he does his "Collin right, Collin wrong" segment and says he was wrong about McCarthy.
