A blow for Detroit, but they did draft Tyleik Williams so it won't be as bad as it could have been.

Ouch. I think this is gonna hurt the Lions a little bit more than Campbell is admitting. Sure they drafted Williams, but Levi is a versatile pass rusher who can move inside and out. Williams is more of a nose only. I don't think he'll even play on 3rd down.

I agree. Williams is a nose. Missing that pass rush is not a good start for that Lions team. I believe they had a 2 year window to truly make a run at the ring. I think they will be tough, but starting to think the SB dream is dying.

Weren't there some reports that the Vikings were looking at him in the offseason?

If so, dodged a bullet there.

Its been interesting reading from Lions' players this offseason....I sense high frustration that they've come up short the last 2 seasons. I think they've got a bit of a grind hangover and they really need to motivate themselves to hit it hard again to try and get to the Superbowl. I think their organization and fans printed out Superbowl tickets mentally the past 2 years and its taken a little bit of a toll. JMO, I think if teams punch them in the mouth a bit this season they might have less fight in them. What Washington did to them at home last year in the playoffs was shocking and raw to them and their fans.

And to others in this thread that have said Campbell is downplaying this injury, I totally agree.

Not that we don't already know, but this a reminder that winning a Super Bowl is really, really hard. You can do everything right, identify your window, build a winning roster and coaching staff and one bad day from your QB can ruin it all. So you strap it up again the next year, but this time you lose both coordinators, your all pro center to retirement and your starting DT to injury. I don't feel bad for the Lions because we've had more than our share of this kind of bullshit.
