It will always be CYA time and it is political. The response to different disasters has shown that unfortunately. It shouldn't be that way though. Cuts to NOAA, NWS and FEMA are having an impact. I don't care where the disaster is in this country, funding should be available period. Prevention, warning systems and alerts and support afterwards should not be political

I wouldn’t want this to turn political either if my politics left me with blood on my hands.

Just my two cents, let's all take it down a notch if we could. Emotions are high in this environment....and listen, I shoot my bullets here politically as well. Pushing the envelope for sure. But I know I want to read your viewpoints on football, JIT.....I like your insight. Your humor is good for the board. And topics on football to engage in. We need everyone here to keep it going. But we won't solve anything politically.....and I say this as the guy that doesn't suffer the political fools gladly.

Just my gentle reminder for me, you and everyone: we've got a fun year ahead! Mere days away from the meat of the football year starting. Skol!

Not to take away from their efforts as it was a horrific experience but these girls were counselors at the newer Cypress Lake part of Camp Mystic which is away from the river and up a hill so their kids were never in danger from the flooding.  The kids that were evacuated from Camp Mystic were supposed to be evacuated to the Cypress Lake location originally to the mess hall and than they were to be assigned to the bunk halls at Cypress Lake to borrow clothing, etc. from those on higher ground.   The National Guard intervened and evacuated all the kids. Some of the writing of names was to help kids with each others names.

These two girls were part of a summer exchange program from Mexico and were interviewed on Mexican TV because of the local interest...the legend grew from there.

Did Biden make cuts to these programs because they sure as hell haven't been implemented on Trumps watch at this point?

Even though it supports me in this case, I have zero use for fact checkers.  They're usually as or more biased than the people they're fact checking.  The common-sense approach here is that Trump just got to act on his first real financial (budgeted) bill.  Democrats will use every crisis to jump on Republicans for cuts, kinda like every time it storms it has to be climate change.  Common sense tells us that there are a lot of other factors that were in play here that had nothing to do with staffing or support from federal agencies.  People that believe that want to believe that to validate their point, not from factual information.
