As a fan from the outside, this strikes me as too soon. But I am no expert either.

I think that's pretty optimistic. More likely target is the Eagles game after our international games and bye week.

I thought it was optimistic too. But the fact that he missed the first day or two of OTAs, which was probably when he was testing the knee with the trainers, and then was out there moving around like he was, probably means they aren't concerned about swelling. That's a really good sign with three months to go.

He was doing some serious shoving in training camp.  I was wowed.  I have to agree with PA though I'm also hoping they err on the side of caution.

Assuming he skips preseason, that would be a 10.5 Month recovery which is in the normal recovery window. About the same length of time as Hockenson’s. Not sure what they need to be more conservative with, a lighter guy running and making cuts, or a bigger guy who needs to block big guys and could get guys rolling into his legs from weird angles.

It's typically a 9-12 month recovery and his surgery was early November. So if it's going well he might get on the field for game 1. But it could also be any time up to mid-season, just depends on how it goes.

he's a big man and that is a lot to ask of a surgically repaired knee on the short end of the expected recovery time. its one thing to be able to move around like that in drills, its a complete other thing for it to have the strength and stability to survive another large humanoid rolling into your knee while your weight and the weight of another large humanoid are pressing down on it.

I pray they arent so focused on 2025 that they forget how valuable he really is to this franchises future.

Vikings coaches pleased at Christian Darrisaw’s return to practice, but won’t rush him back

Vikings coaches and players have lauded left tackle Christian Darrisaw’s ongoing recovery from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, sustained Oct. 24 against the Rams.

Less than eight months afterward, he wore a bulky brace while rejoining his teammates on the practice field Thursday, the final day of thee-day mandatory minicamp. But head coach Kevin O’Connell said the Vikings aren’t rushing Darrisaw to be ready for Sept. 8 opener in Chicago against the Bears.

“He’s been phenomenal,” O’Connell said. “We had to get him back around real football players because of where he’s at. That doesn’t mean his timeline has necessarily changed. ... All I’ve told Christian is, let’s worry about that when it’s time to worry about that.”

Darrisaw, who signed a four-year, $76 million extension last summer, was also limited on Tuesday before sitting out Wednesday’s practice. The expectation remains that the retooled offensive line won’t come together until training camp, including new right guard Will Fries, who watched portions of practices this week while rehabbing a broken leg.

I think an o-lineman can get by with a bulkier brace and still be functional.
