Murphy On Rodgers
#1

Very underrated signing. He’s going to be a difference maker.

Rodgers has gotten buzz since signing in Minnesota, hope the hype is spot on. They'll need him in the secondary.

My guess is that in two corner situations, Murphy and Rodgers start. In three, Blackmon replaces Murphy outside and Murphy moves to the slot, where he was so effective last year.

This isn't a bad starting corner group. Rodgers had nearly elite PFF grades as a part time player in Philly. Blackmon was PFF All Rookie in 2023 and was the highest graded corner on the Vikings in both man and zone that year. But unless Okudah and McGlothern play well above expectations, the depth is a little thin IMO.

There are corners available and will be more later.  Currently they don't seem too worried about it.  I know its early but I think you have to had Vaughn into the depth pieces as well.  He has some length and speed and seems to be flashing a bit.    Even still I think we are a really solid corner short.

That sure would be nice if Vaughn turns into a player. But I refuse to get TOO excited about UDFAs who stand out in OTAs. Where are you now, Kyries Hebert?

To be fair the defensive backfield back when Hebert played was kind of garbage.  29th in pass defense in 2002.   There is more talent on this team than back then. As I stated it is early,  but Vaughn has the length and speed to be a decent corner.  It now comes down to his recognition and ability to play the scheme.   What has been interesting is the Vikings indifference so far on adding another cornerback,  whether in free agency (beyond what we signed) and in the draft.  They seem very comfortable with their current depth so far which is pretty notable.

Agree. We know Flores is high on Rodgers, but I think they're much higher on Blackmon than most fans realize. I also get the feeling that this could be a position they don't pursue now or this summer, but at the trade deadline, ala the Rams and Ramsey a few years ago.

Blackmon is my surprise player for 2025. The kid is a dawg, aggressive and physical. Long arms for a guy who is 5'11".
