I definitely wanted Carr.

Maybe the most of anyone as I recall.

I think there was a good contingent here that were Carr fans. I remember the big knock on him was level of competition at Fresno and them getting blown out in their bowl game against USC when it was essentially Carr, Davonte Adams, and a cast of turds versus a USC team that fielded numerous NFL talents. I would have had no problem taking Carr with the Anyhony Barr pick in the top 10, but Norv Turner loved him some Teddy two gloves and Zimmer deferred to his expertise on the matter, which was clearly the wrong call. I never trusted Bridgewaters slight frame, the fact he had to throw with gloves, and his epicly bad pro day. Unfortunately we never found out what kind of player he could have been with the injury

My hope is for far more from JJM.

JJM has arm and wheels Teddy never had. The rest is on JJ and KOC.

I had forgotten that Shough was drafted so highly (number 40 overall), so that's a commitment unto itself to give him a shot at being the long term starter. My guess is that is going to happen this year and if he doesn't show excellent promise, then take another QB with their first round pick? I'm sure it depends where they select. But still would be mostly unprecedented to lay that kind of draft capital out for a QB in back to back years. Should be interesting.

It’s pretty rare for sure. Oilers took Dante Pasterini and Lynn Dickey in the same year if I remember correctly. Cowboys took Aikman and Walsh with a first round value supplemental pick. Cards took Josh Rosen then Kyler Murray the following year first overall.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Arch Manning if the Saints are picking first overall. Will grandpa sign off on Arch declaring if that’s how it plays out? Saints haven’t exactly been a well run organization for quite a few years. NFL marketing would love this outcome however.

Slough is supposedly already at the top of some depth charts. This might be the most extreme example of damning with faint praise in a long time. This is a brutal QB room as it stands.

Carr was the consensus choice here. Didn’t we trade down and take Teddy? Teddy was a great leader and got us close with All day carrying the load. Too bad Teddys leg got ruined.

Biggest knock on Carr was his brothers failure, which was laughable. Kinda sad we didn’t have a chance to see Carr in Purple, what might have been.
