"If you don't want to be here, we're not going to hold you."

The Vikings pulled the offer for Daniel Jones, they believe in what they have and continue to build in Minnesota.

Pivoting to Howell, bringing in Brosmer, and committing to McCarthy shows their confidence.

I think he wanted a chance to compete for Qb1....Not sure that was really going to happen here for him.

I'm sure, but KOC University could have set him up much better in 2026 as a FA. Short term vs. long term thinking.

Eh, I think it’s 50-50. I don’t think KOC U wasn’t changing his 2026 value unless JJM got injured. If he stayed here, he’s probably following the Darnold model, but we’re the 49ers for him. No one is getting the “bigger” Darnold paycheck unless they get on the field and show something of value. If he stayed in Minnesota, it would be a redshirt year, then he’d have to go to another team to prove he got better, then in 2027 he could get a “big” contract. Or … he could go to Indy, probably start in 2025, and maybe get a “big” contract in 2026.

100%. Another year at Father O’Connell’s School For Wayward QBs would have paid off huge. He’s going to regret this move.

In the archives I said it makes no sense for Jones to leave at least for 1 year. Now he will go to Indy. Richardson will struggle, they will pull him for Jones, Jones will Chit the bed and no one will give him a QB1 shot for years to come.

It's hard to blame a guy for taking a likely starting role over an unlikely one. But I think it says a lot about JJM that Jones, given a couple months with the kid, liked his chances to start over Richardson than his chances to start over McCarthy.

In either case, I agree with those who say Jones' long-term future would probably be brighter given another year with KOC, even in a backup role.

I see this as a very likely outcome.

I was kinda sad to see him go, because he seemed like a very viable option in the event of problems with JJM...but, we have another that likely would do just as well once he's steeped in the KOC offensive schemes.

Sorry, Danny. I get the reach for the golden ring, but I don't think you got any closer.
Build on 14-3, take back the NFCN, break the ****ing curse. Simple.

Spun another way, maybe Jones felt he'd gotten his fill of KO School of Quarterbacking. Or he just wanted more money. Or doesn't like the house he rented.

Our QB room isn't going to top any preseason rankings but I'm excited about where we're at.

I wonder why he would take less money to join the Colts? Hmmm maybe he was told he is the front runner for the job? I wonder??
