Kelly recruited Fries, Vikes weren't initially looking to sign him
#1
Did anyone else catch that this week? Not sure if it was KOC that said it at the meetings, but when they signed Kelly, he said I can get Spud (his name for Fries) to come here. Vikings were like hell yes, let's do this. I guess Minnesota thought they wouldn't have a chance because he had SO many suitors and thought he'd get priced out. Very cool anecdotal story, gotta love the Minnesota Vikings culture, facilities and staff....makes a difference. Oh....and the money. Smile I knew the story of Kelly recruiting Fries, didn't know the part about Minnesota not attempting to sign him until Kelly said he could get him to come.

And in watching all the interviews that KOC did this week, the guy looks and sounds very confident and satisfied with where they are going and the team he has.

I did see that. It makes me wonder what the plan was initially.

So does this mean KAM doesnt get credit for Fries?
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I wonder if Fries left money on the table. Guessing he did. Kelly and Fries look to have a close relationship. Lucky for us. Now let's draft a young center to bring along with Kelly and Fries and build that same relationship. I get it, easier said than done. Drew Kendall might just be perfect in that situation.

Things really fell into place for us in free agency, with Fries and Kelly coming as a package deal and both Allen and Hargrave getting released. That kind of shit doesn't happen every year.

Honestly, it was kind of overwhelming in a good way you usually don't feel as a Viking's fan. Seemed a touch surreal in real time. Hope it turns out as good as it currently looks on paper.
