2025 NFL Free Agency and Draft: CB
I just don't think this is a particularly strong group of prospects at corner this year and two of the better ones in Revel and Morrison are coming off major injuries. I think you'll only see two maybe three corners go in the 1st round, Hunter, Johnson and Barron. The Vikings still have a need at the position and I hope they don't reach for one out of need. If Barron falls in your lap at #24, great, otherwise hoping they look at another position

With Murphy back, and Blackmon and Rodgers capable of starting, the Vikings may think they're OK waiting for a top talent to return to full health. Revel, for example, was considered a top 12 corner before his injury. And Kwesi obviously sees market opportunities in players who are discounted due to injury. However, I sense that Revel's injury is giving NFL teams pause. He's been dropping a little on the boards of some of the more connected media scouts.

If the Vikings are targeting a corner, their best path would be to trade into the early-to-middle 2nd round. Thats where the value gets thick, with Thomas, Amos, Hairston, Porter, Revel and Morrison all likely 2nd round picks.

I think corner is the one position on the team you look at now and go we could use another guy there and some depth. I agree with you that the second round would be the better value area to take a corner, but yeah there's no way I'm reaching for a one at #24 or bypassing a top ranked lineman or Treyveon Henderson to trade down and take a corner.

Wow, talk about a piece of clay. A corner not many are talking about is Darien Porter from Iowa State. 6-3, 197, ran a 4.30, 33-inch arms, academic All Big 12. A former track star and WR, his first time playing cornerback was the 2024 season and he played well. Allowed a ridiculous 4.7 passer rating.

Not sure this is a Flores guy tho. Flores values instincts, versatility and man skills. I doubt Porter is his ideal corner, but man the upside on this kid is nuts.

Bumping this. Looks like Porter is horrific in man, decent in zone. Is this a deal breaker for a team that spent a lot of time in quarters, two high, and a third zone variant that I can’t recall at the moment? Probably not.

I’m guessing we play more zone because we can’t play man. If healthy, Revel looks like a complete stud.

I think Barron, Revel, Amos best fit what we do here with Flores. A month ago, I thought Amos was strictly a zone corner. Then watching him more and reading, he can play both really well. I was wrong on Amos. Revel is who I want and have wanted. Drafting a #1 corner off an ACL, that happened in practice, is a bit concerning. Will that hinder what happens in the NFL, will it be a continuous problem, and how will that affect how he plays moving forward. Not sure how other corners come back from ACLs and if it affects them. Maybe Maroon can answer that more.

Like I said, I doubt he's right for us, but some team with the patience who's willing to teach him how to play corner is going to get a Harbor Freight store full of tools with this kid.

I think you're right about man/zone. Put a shut down corner like Sauce on this team and you'll see a big shift in that breakdown, and likely even more blitzes.

Ditto on Morrison who was highly proficient in either scheme. Best corner I've seen at ND since Todd Lyght. His injury was a real shame because he was a top 10 lock

I see he was cleared about a month ago. Torn labrum in the hip seems pretty catastrophic for a CB.
