Darnolds first PO game
#1
So what are we going to get?  Slinging Sammie was overexcited against the Lions from what I saw.

I’m thinking he got the yips out against the Lions and comes back very strong this week as that game was a playoff atmosphere and mood in every sense.

KOC’s continued failure to commit to the run game did not and does not help Slingin Sammie.  We NEVER run the ball on 3 rd and short/ medium.  How many first downs did Detroit get from running the ball on 3rd down Last week alone?  5?   Fix this and we will be unstoppable.

Detroits not afraid to run on 3rd down because 4th is just another offensive down to coach Meathead.

Gilmore needs to bother to show up to this game...

Sammie was disappointing last week, but so was JJ, Addison and TJH.

I dont see the Rams going zero blitz as often as Glenn did; we should've put 37 pts up on that kind of play.

I feel like Ive been repeating myself for 4 or 5 weeks now.  We need more shorter quick out routes for when our OL doesnt hold up.  Slants and fill the blitzers spot, short routes by the TE's, short hook routes etc....  Our OL is not holding up to let the long routes form.

Basically have Jones chip block and then stop 3-5 yrds past the DL to be ready for a quick out if needed.

Agree. You don't have to change the offense at all, you don't even have to use the new plays, just install more high-percentage stuff to use when your QB is struggling or off target or the OL is not holding up. That stuff can repair a struggling QB.

Agreed on needing the quick routes, our OL is still a weakness. That said, we need as much controlled aggression as possible; controlling the mood of the game needs to be a priority. The Vikings can't be the team that lost to the Rams, or the team embarrassed by Detroit last weekend...they need to be the Vikings that belong in the playoffs.
Wait, we failed to protect our QB in big games, again?

MAYBE THERE'S A LESSON HERE.

Darnold just needs to do what Darnold does. The offensive line, and the whole team, needs to be more physical at this point in time. Rams are a finesse team. The Vikings need to be more physical.
The offensive line can win or lose this game. They sucked against Detroit. They better be aggressive this time or they will be playing golf next weekend.
Defense needs to get some hits on Stafford early or he will carve them up.
Vikings are capable. It's time to do it, right now.
The whole team needs to play well. That's what brought them to this point. They are capable. Just do it.

I re-watched the first two drives in the first Rams game. Darnold was white hot on those first two drives.
