Agree with the others, don't think a 4 year contract is the thing, but I would love a 1 or 2 year deal, let JJ heal, grow, learn.

I agree with this, but the reality is 1-2 years isnt what Darnold will be looking for. Cant blame him for seeking security, if anyone has PTSD from the NFL experience it would be Sam. 

A longer-term contract would allow the Vikings to backload and do some other capanomics too. But I just dont see it unless Sam literally takes us to the promised land. 

Honestly, I think tag and trade is the BEST SCENARIO FOR THE VIKINGS. 

I know some posters dont like it, but this is about the franchise, not one individual player. I'm in RF54's camp regarding the tag.

Yeah, doubtful Sam would go for a short term deal.  But just what I would like to see.
