Sam Darnold's last 6 games...
1635 passing yards 272 passing yards/game 15 TD: 1 INT 5 multi-TD games Pretty impressive stretch of football, Mr. Darnold. Keep it going!

This agent source said Darnold will get a Viking's contract barring 'a collapse in the playoffs':

I have to say that, once again, he seemed a little off target to me early. Ball to TJH on the sideline didn't need to be that high. There were a couple balls over the middle of the field that were off target as well. There were no consequences to any of this, Thank God. And he played really well otherwise.
In the 2nd half I kept thinking this game is too close. There is no margin for error. If we have a turnover or a crucial penalty we're going to lose this game. To the Vikings credit, they never did. And rarely do. This is a well coached team.

We were a stupid facemask penalty by the Seachickens from probably losing this game. Agree with MaroonBells, though not to take away from Darnold's toughness and grit. The margin for error is so slim...

The Vikings controlled the game for about 90% of the first half. Seattle had that late TD drive before half time and "won" the 3rd quarter, but the Vikings won the 4th quarter like they've been doing all season. The Vikings are a good football team. Entertaining year when no one had any expectations for this kind of season (except Nick Swardson).

Tough as nails. Elite arm. Leader. When KOC gave one of the game balls in his locker room speech at the end yesterday to Darnold, the team erupted. They love him. And Sammy has been very slyly saying in the post game interviews on the field, "No place I'd rather be than Minnesota".... he's telling them he wants to stay, making it public so the fans understand and its not going on deaf ears now internally. No way it can be. (Yesterday, 10:31 AM)PurplePorsche Wrote: We were a stupid facemask penalty by the Seachickens from probably losing this game. Lots of teams win due to the other team making more stupid plays, doing dumb things. Coaching makes a difference, its an advantage for us. I'm at peace winning by making fewer bonehead plays. Do I wish we were winning by 12 points every week? Absolutely, but its not what this team does. They are a bit like the Chiefs this year in that regard. As far as Sam goes, I dont know how you dont extend him after this season? That last quarter pretty much cemented it for me. All the intangibles you look for we've seen and he's gotten better as the year has progressed. To steal from KOC - Sam is playing like a top 3 draft pick. To steal from Maroon - imagine what a 2nd year in the same offense would look like for Sam? Another year with KOC? YIKES!! If you dont keep him in the building? Start an un-proven rookie? I think you are essentially taking steps back in 2025 vs building on 2024. Vegas line will look like about an 8 win team with a rook QB and a good surround. I like me JJM, he's the future. But that future is probably further out than any of us imagined in August. If they haven't done so already, the front office needs to formulate a pivot and then decide whether to pull the trigger on it or not. The lord works in mysterious ways.

The game was too close because the defense couldn't get any pressure. They prevailed in the end, but they aren't getting the pressure or confusing QBs as much as they were early in the season. They are still a very good defense and have won several games this year, but it took them awhile to get on track yesterday. I think they missed Harry.

This is the stat that is one of the more meaningful in my opinion because it measures week-in, week-out consistency. We need to remove all the Darnold qualifiers, like "for a bridge QB" or "for a castoff." What he's doing is historic by any standard. |
