Schultz Report: Some Falcons players say Penix best QB in the room
#11
Kwesi and KOC avoided getting royally scammed by Cousins .

Atlanta gambled on a 36 year old coming off blown Achilles surgery at 50 mil a year.

In a parallel universe , had Cousins been resigned, this exact same argument could have occurred in Minneapolis with calls of Cousins to be replaced by JJM.

I advocated for Cousins before we saw the terms of the contract. Glad I’m not GM. That could have exploded in our face.

I did, too, and it's not exactly apples to oranges: Atlanta's HC is new this year, Kirko had to learn the playbook and his teammates' tendencies while still healing, and that was a lot to take into this season.

I think it'd have been an easier recovery on his familiar team with his familiar (and incredible) weapons/playbook...but, as he obviously didn't trust his leg early on, how things would have gone will never be known.
STRETCH RUN, VIKINGS...LET'S END THIS SEASON WITH BANGS!

He's younger and more athletic (with a worrisome injury history, despite his youth), but is he a leader at the NFL level? Is that what the offense really lacks?

I think the new head coach, the QB returning from injury, and some underwhelming performances overall in that offense have been a rough combination...and that throwing a rookie into it could expose those other problems pretty brutally.

Cousins is having a rough stretch, no argument, but that team doesn't look "together" to me in general.

Well, they got to 6-3 and everyone is like, 'Kirk is back! Finally healed up and looking good'......then they've gone 0-4 since then and Cousins hasn't thrown a TD in that stretch, but thrown 8 INTs. So the trend is not good. Its probably too early and harsh to say he's washed, but now is the time for him to turn it on and get the Falcons in the playoffs: its a big boy contract, time for some big boy wins.

I figured last week was when the turbo boost was going to kick in for Kirko.

I think he's on a short leash now. I agree the next week or two will tell the tale.

I would be doubling-down on the playbook if I was Penix.

Atlanta has too much tied up in Cousins. They won't start Penix until they are eliminated from playoff contention... which could be sooner, rather than later.

I'd be very surprised if anyone trades for him and that monster contract. I believe Cousins may be reaching the end.
