He had surgery. They found Cancer in his bile duct beyween the the liver and pancreas. They must feel like they got it all if he's claiming victory.

I hope they did.

But I'm not sure what the real story is (or isn't?) 

The local CBS tv crew said this evening that it was pancreatic cancer and that he will be beginning therapy soon.

I think if the doctor thinks they got all the cancer and they feel the chance of reoccurrence is minimal they will say the patient no longer has cancer and is cancer free.  I know someone close to me who had it, and they reiterated that point.  Let's hope that's the case with Randy.

If Randy has Pancreatic cancer, and if it is considered a later staged, the 5 year survival rate is in the very low teens (around 11%). But I had a friend who survived relatively healthy up until the end for almost a decade.

Ive been under the care of an Oncologist myself. How quickly something is caught (or isnt) is so important. 

If its Pancreatic Cancer, the re-occurance is 60-65%.  But they havent came right out and called it pancreatic cancer. It's a little nebulous. 

I am sure this whole thing has rocked his world and his families too...Just wish him the very best.
