Annual VikeFans Tailgate and get together?
#11
Hi folks - I still stop by as the best training camp info is always here. I can share some information on what's up with tailgating.
It's true that about 325 tailgating spots are gone. Since there weren't that many to begin with, this is a pretty substantial loss. The map posted by Jimmy shows last year's lots. The Touchdown (largest lot) and Kickoff lots are now gone due to new construction. Tailgaters who bought in those lots last year have been told that they can use Lot 53. However, Lot 53 is first come, first serve. As you can imagine, there are some unhappy people. Some put a lot of effort into tailgating so not knowing if you're even going to have a spot is not cool.
Mike or Jimmy - let's talk about your get together. I already renewed my spot in the purple lot. Since the Bucs game is just the second home game, I'd planned on using it. But I tailgate with a group and we have 2 other spots. So just *maybe* we can work something out. No certainties as I'd need to figure out some logistics.
Take care all.

Edited again because I don't know about any tailgating lots other than what has been communicated by the Vikings (Purple, Gold, Quarterback and Lot 53)

Definitely have missed your 2 cents sister.  Please come around more often, and thaNK you for the information.

I have to admit that my appreciation for the Wilfs is waning at the moment.

Yah, I have some friends who live in a condo in East Mpls, and there is so much construction now its unbelievable. Condo's, apartments, Trader Joes going in etc...

Only took 40 years for revitalization to hit and all it took was a few tweaks to some zoning too lol!

So yah, spots are drying-up fast, there will be fewer even tomorrow. That land is just too valuable for parking lots now.

Well this sucks but based on the responses thus far its not looking like it would be worth the effort anyway.

Well crap, this is a bummer.  There will be four in my group,... Any tailgating in the light rail parking lots?  Like have a get together a stop or two away and just jump on the train to get to the stadium.  Probably not legal or feasible... just a thought that popped in...

I was thinking about the same thing.  Pretty sure it would be squashed.  I remember a few years ago some of us from PT were gonna get together at a park north of the dome and the cops ran the first guys out of there right away.

We still need to set a date that will work for as many as possible so if anybody is considering one of these please let your preferences be known.

I had a blast last year.  I know for sure that I won't be able to make the  Bucs or Lions games.

I might be able to make the Packers game (if there are tickets available)...  and one of my good buddies would likely go with me, but he's a Packer fan.  Bring some duct tape and rotten tomatoes...  We can tie him up to a pole and take turns pelting him with rotten vegetables.

Don't plan around me, but if you pick the Packers game, I'd make a point of coming for sure.  Even if I couldn't get tixs, I'd come just to tailgate and watch it in the lot on TV.

Keep me posted.
