Rodgers a Vike in '25?
#1
Siefert responding to a tweet about the Jets not bringing Rodgers back....

-------
Kevin Seifert@SeifertESPN
?
Vikings have one QB under contract for 2025 and he has never played a down of regular-season NFL football. It's happening. ?
--------

Uh...no. Normally, I ignore the baggage and welcome an experienced backup QB to our roster. Daniel Jones for example. I endorse that one fully (with a new contract). But not this guy. Not this feckin' guy. No way.

Dimes is going to want a place to re-hab and hopefully get a shot at starting again in TC.

I think many teams will look at him as bridge to whatever rook they draft this season.

I didnt realize the QB room was going to be that empty in 25. I would not mind re-signing Mullens. The gunslinger is entertaining for one game (and one game only).

I don’t really understand why the Jets wouldn’t bring Rodgers back. I get that we’re biased and people generally don’t like him, but what are their other QB options? I think it’d be more that you’d just have to find the right HC/OC to pair with him. Someone that can make a whole scheme and install it, preferably around his preferences and whatnot. Getting a rookie QB right now looks more like wishful thinking than an actual plan, so they’re probably bringing in a reclamation project and you might as well let that reclamation project be Rodgers.

I also can’t imagine a scenario where he ends up here. I think you probably just resign Mullens unless you can get a better backup for not much more.

The worst two years of being a Viking fan for me were having to stomach seeing Favre in purple, it was really hard to watch. I'd rather go through Les Steckel and 3-13. Honestly, while I was upset at the time, I am glad we did not go to the Super Bowl that one year, because having to see him forever in our history highlights as him winning us our first Super Bowl would not have been worth it. I could not go through that again, no way could root for Rodgers regardless of what uniform he is wearing.

Rodgers is expensive and very very old. I think after canning their GM, they're at the point where they just want to start over. GM, coach, QB, scheme, cap space...just tear it up by the roots and start over. And this time do it right. Easier said than done though.

Dumbest thing ever. Seifert is trolling Viking's Twitter and of course they bit on it.

The biggest thing is Rodgers is playing poorly. Like, bad. Add in the fact that they've given him the world, and it's still not working. I think he's done in NY. The dead cap is going to hurt them bigly but he's due a $35M bonus before 2025. Absolutely no way he sees that. I guess maybe Rodgers could restructure to stay but would he even want to? Would they even want him back?

If he'd take Sam money on a one-year deal and Rodgers came in humble I could maybe get on board, but what are the odds of that happening?

Look at how disruptive Roger’s has been to the Jets this year. Team is in shambles.

Agree. He's a culture cancer. Sticky's right tho. Siefert is just trying to get a rise out of Viking fans. Packer fans are finding it pretty amusing though.
