BREAKING: Jets fire GM Douglas

"More change in New York: Jets now have fired GM Joe Douglas, sources tell ESPN. Last month, head coach Robert Saleh. Now, Douglas."

And the scorched earth fallout continues all because Aaron Rodgers sucks. Choose your paths wisely, NFL teams. Jets fans had 2 Superbowl trophies already factored in when Rodgers was originally signed.

As I've said before, the Jets suck, have always sucked, and will always suck. Anytime they get a nationally televised game, my interest in said game becomes virtually zero...and they've been on a lot the last couple years.

I can partially (very partially) understand the midseason firing of Saleh, because it came wrapped with a "Hey changing coaching might get us more wins this year". Firing your GM midseason just feels like "I'm pissed and heads must roll"

Adam Schefter just said that there would be at least 7 head coaching changes this year and that 9+ wouldn't surprise him. Heads are on the block.

Also reporting that Flores is a name that "stands out" and at the very least is expected to receive several head coaching interviews this offseason

Dayum....

But it would be hard not to be happy for him personally if he landed a nice job somewhere.

I think the Jets are clearing the floor for fresh start and that means a new QB too. Let the new GM and HC figure out who that could be.

Would Darnold go back there? I guess never say never.

Or it's let's get a GM in here, let him pick his HC and then they can decide if they want to grab a QBotF while they still have Rodgers for 2025.  Kinda like what we did...  But I don't know if the Jets ownership is that smart. Probably will extend Rodgers, let him pick the GM and HC and watch him retire after 2025 and then the HC and GM are fired after two seasons.  Rinse and repeat.

That's no surprise to me. Politics be damned in a results oriented profession.
Someone will want him.

Who wanted Rodgers, Douglas or Johnson?
Aaron Rodgers wasn't to blame for Douglas getting fired, just ask him!

It will be interesting to see which organizations seriously consider him head coaching material and aren't simply trying to just satisfy the Rooney rule. Hes an onvious candidate to fill that mandate for teams looking for a new head coach. The still pending litigation will hurt his chances as well as the recent comments from Tua about Flores as a head coach. He is a really good coach, but I'd be a little surprised to see a team jump right in with him. Still too early IMO and probably needs another offseason or two.
