RUMOR: Bear's players asking coaches to bench Caleb Williams
#21
When should you’re young QB start? When they’re ready. When playing advances their development rather than hinders it. I think the biggest mistake a team can make with their young QB is by having no viable alternative and then being pressured into starting them before they are ready. Per MaroonBells comment on his downfield accuracy, if your QB needs to clean up their mechanics to develop a competent level of accuracy, fix those mechanics before starting them. For every Josh Allen, who seemingly refined his mechanics between seasons, there’s a laundry list of QBs that ingrained bad habits, and got stuck on the journeyman backup pathway of having a different OC every year or two.
