Its just a matter of time before Tua has another concussion, as the more you get, the easier it is to get the next one. Its his life, but.....

It's just bizarre to me that he played without wearing a Guardian cap. Like he's trying to tempt fate.

Yep, he's defiant about it. Its still a macho thing currently to NOT wear a Guardian cap. For example: JJ Watt recently said he thinks those caps are a good thing, but he never would have worn one. lol, ok.....

It seems odd to me they can't redesign a regular size helmet that does what the guardian cap does.

The guardian caps look ridiculous. I forget what team I was watching but they had an o-lineman in one. His head looked 6x the size of everyone else along the line and watching him move on the field was absurd.

I get the safety aspect absolutely but 23 year olds aren't going to wear these things until either A) they're widely adopted/mandated or B) the technology advances and they look better. I assume option B will happen before too long.

As for players choosing to retire-- good for them. For guys choosing to play-- good for them. People risk their lives at their jobs every day for a lot less money than what Tua's making.

and most of those people dont have the money that Tua has already earned, its one thing to question a millionaire athlete, with a net worth north of 10 million, that is in danger of becoming a babbling idiot with the next hit he takes, a complete other thing to try and equate him ignoring his risks with a cop, firefighter, steel worker, or whatever that is living paycheck to paycheck just trying to keep up with his payments and take care of his family. Its his noodle, but I wont feel an ounce of sadness if this ends as most suspect it will. He had the chance to live a dream that a very small fraction only get a chance to see, he has made enough money to live comfortably the rest of his life, and he chooses to ignore all the warnings, this isnt good for him or the game, but its his life and his choice, and he will be the one living with the consequences... until some lawyers and a players union get involved and we see more shit rules go into effect that likely wouldnt have protected him anyway, but make major changes to the game.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
