I know the media crowned him last year, but I'm not sure what kind of player he'll be. He's a big dude, man....wowzer. And what a really nice kid, easy to root for.
I've said this before: the NFL could be hitting a huge sweet spot in young, exciting QBs all over the league, when you include next year's Draft (Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, Shedeur Sanders....maybe even Jaxson Dart). Bunch of guys 28 or under that are legit faces of the franchise.
p.s. Beck, Sanders are older than JJM....and Ewers is only 2 months younger. McCarthy's injury sucked the wind out of our sails, but he really is a young guy. It truly is just a bump in the road.

If JJM had returned to UM for this season, he would be QB1 in next year's draft. We would have no chance at drafting him or would have to pay a much steeper price to do so.

Good point on JJM...
Richardson is interesting cause if he can continue to develop his passing game acumen? With that athleticism?
Yikes!
I know the Vikings loved the guy - he is more than just athletic.

Well we all knew he was a project when he was drafted that would take some time. Hurt as a rookie and didn't get the playing time needed. I think he's going to make a lot of spectacular plays, but is also going to turn the ball over a lot...

Run first, pass second isn't the formula for being an NFL all-pro in the long term. This will catch up with him eventually, though he's built like a god so it might take a while. Then again, getting injured as a rookie and missing time might be an indicator that it won't take long.

I was not very high on Richardson from just seeing his film highlights (yeah, seemed like run first, pass second). But then at the Combine, he was flicking the ball 50-70 yards with his wrist...effortless. And his Combine results were an athletic freak show. Finding out that the Vikings tried to trade up to get him told me that they saw it too.
Colts still are not sure what they've got...a first-year injury may have helped him this year, just like we hope JJM sitting and getting mental reps will set him up for success next season.

He's an intriguing guy because he's an athletic freak, but the guy had 17 college starts and only played parts of 4 games in the NFL as a rookie.
I think he has the right mentality to reach his potential, but I think that might be in 2025 or 2026. He just hasn't played enough, I think he'll have some rough stretches this year if he can stay healthy all season.

I was just listening to a sports show and they were talking about the Colts taking the division this year and Richardson going off, talking about getting into the playoffs. Of course they said the Commanders would win 9-10 so there is that. I watched Richardson's last preseason game and I get the athleticism and that but sometimes he is not getting the ball out quick enough. In joint practice, Bengals players were yelling throw the ball bro, is that all he does is run and he just throws to spots per The Athletic. He is a project but we'll see what happens.

Bringing this thread back from a few months ago. Still applies. Going to miss the game today with an injury after missing some of the last game:
"Richardson has missed 13 of a possible 21 games since becoming the NFL's No. 4 draft pick in 2023. He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 5 of his rookie season that required surgery and proved season-ending.
He also missed a game last season with a concussion.
Richardson has struggled with turnovers this season, throwing six interceptions. But he also ranks third in the NFL in yards per attempt (8.5) and is first in air yards per attempt (12.6)."

Feast or famine typically leads to a lot of missed meals.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
