I was listening to KOC's post-game interview late yesterday afternoon, lounging in the sun on my back deck, looking at the mountains to the West and unfettered by the video...just the audio. Listening to him talk, it struck me that this guy is smart, really smart. Whereas an NFL coach (or player) normally talks in well-rehearsed cliches to the media, just focusing on what he was saying caused me to mention to my wife "this guy is really smart".
His breakdown of individual players, of individual plays that could have gone differently, the teacher in him...he was truly providing insight into his coaching style and what he sees out on the field in a game, in practice, in drills.
I agree, there is no quit in this guy. He's in for winning it all this season. Whether he does or not is another story, and one new signing (Gilmore) does not make or break the team. It does tell us that he has intent to be competitive...dammit.

These guys aren't busting their humps for making base pay...They want to win and be surrounded by good players. Anyone who talks about tanking or not signing this guy cause this other guy got hurt is just being silly (to put it nicely).
Vikings got bit hard @DB, hopefully Gilmore buys them a year. Maybe a good P2 kind of year.

If you go by PFF grade, Gilmore should step right in and be our best corner. But I do wonder a bit about his age since 33/34 seems to be when most non-QBs fall off a cliff. If we could just get one more year of vintage Gilmore, it would be an enormous boost to this defense. Gilmore, Murphy, Griffin and Evans, all playing at the top of their game, could be an above average corner group.

The Vikings are Gilmore’s fifth different team in the last five years.
The former 2012 first-round pick was selected 10th overall, 19 spots ahead of Vikings safety Harrison Smith.

I think that says a lot, he is not a the Stephon Gilmore that made a name for himself with Bills and Pats. Do not expect a high level of play from both he and Griffen who is also a player who has been on the downside.

This signing is akin to us signing Terrence Newman back when Zimmer was here. A once elite player who can still play and carve out a roll, but not the same player skill wise as he was a few years ago. He'll bring leadership to a corner group that needs it.

I was thinking P2, but I think Newman is a good example too. Forgot about him.
