CBS mock has Vikings trading down....twice
#1
I wouldn't typically post a mock, but this one is a cautionary tale. Raiders jump the Vikings and take McCarthy at 10. Vikings take the CB Quin Mitchell, then trade down from 23 twice to 32 and take Nix.

I hate that the Vikings miss on McCarthy, but I'm a big Mitchell fan. Don't think they'd take a CB over a DT like Murphy, but that's a damn solid CB group with Mitchell. The handful of Nix fans will like this. I do think he's decidedly the 6th best QB, but like I've said before, there's not a huge difference.

I feel like I've mentally and emotionally prepped myself for not getting a top 4 QB this draft.

But I am sure the NFL or Vikings will STILL find a way to dagger my heart. Getting jumped by the Raiders at 10 while hoping JJM drops to 11 would do it.

Last time I can remember being giddy on draft day was when they selected AP.

True fact.  I totally agree with you.  This draft is like sitting back and preparing for the worst...

Oh c'mon, you weren't stoked when the Eagles took Raegor over JJ? That was my draft day giddy moment. I think I was the only person on the planet who had JJ ranked as his top WR that year, so I was jacked. The Moss and Culpepper selections are up there too. Biggest frustration? Treadwell by a mile.

I had know idea at the time of JJ's ceiling, or I might have joined your party...

Moss and Pepp are a generation b4 AP...

Getting aced -out of a top 4 qb by one pick would be one tough pill.

You're right about Moss and JJ...Culpepper, so-so.

I think they will do all they can to trade up for Maye, but if it doesn't happen I really do not think they will trade two 1s for JJ. I would love Quin and Nix over JJ especially if we were able to do it with trading down and getting extra picks.

especially since everyone knows we are going to be taking a QB in the first, and the teams right ahead of us would be fine with trading back a few if it nets them more picks,  especially the bears if it screws the Vikings.

Wasn't about being right or wrong. Culpepper had been considered the potential #1 overall pick for months. His size, speed and arm were legendary. I remember telling my boss at the time about this QB down in Florida who was 6-4, 260 and runs a 4.5 forty. He had a hard time believing it.

Then the microscopes came out and teams fell in love with Couch, McNabb and Akili Smith, and Culpepper dropped out of the top 10. It was nuts we ended up with him.

And The Sheriff went "hell yah" I'll pair that cannon with Moss and Carter. Thank you very much.

One thing about Denny and the org at that time, they knew how the hell to draft offense, and couldn't draft for defense if their lives depended on it.
