Would you get behind this?

The situation is interesting from a timing perspective too...

You cant pull the trigger on something too early unless its @ 2 or you have a couple guys rated equally.

IF you are hard-set on MAye (but not JJM or Daniels) and the Commanders draft him @ 2?

Then what do you do?

Closer we get to draft, the more likely it appears any potential trade is in real time...Hope the chat room is up and running by then.

Maye is at best 4th on my list of QB’s. The last time I remember a guy as pumped up as he is was Blake Bortles. I’m not saying he can’t become a great player, it’s just going to take time and it’s risky. That’s a guy you take at 11 at the highest.
Caleb Williams has the highest “upside”. Then probably Nix or Daniels. Accuracy is so vital at the NFL level, it’s a necessity to become a top 5 guy.

It is genuinely going to be so interesting to see where these QBs end up going in the Draft.

I think Nix is being under represented in the mocks,   and this is from a Penix fan. So many want to draft for potential and that ceiling gets inflated higher and higher,  meanwhile very rarely do the planets align to reach that pre draft ceiling,   meanwhile that guy that had solid college stats and career just continues to perform, only difference is its on Sunday now.

If KAM and KOC believe Maye is the guy, then we have to swing. This may be as close as we get to such a QB. If we're trading to 4 or 5, I would hope we wouldn't have to trade our 25 first. If we do, I would hope we'd get something back.

Payton is talkimg like the donkeys are willing to get into the race for a top pick,  have to think the Giants are in the mix and they have a much higher launching point to give them an advantage for 4.  This could get real expensive in a hurry.

I'm a fan of drafting more QBs over multiple years, rather than more picks into 1 QB.  I really don't think NFL teams are that accurate at picking out the good QB out of the lineup.

That said, if they feel conviction that they are getting a significantly better QB than they could by not trading up, I don't think it's super horrible if the draft pain is limited to 2024 and 2025, and you get back to drafting with high picks in 2026.  The idea of spending the 2026 pick as well is a big WTF as no one is good enough at drafting to really warrant that level of commitment.

Right. I mean would you really hate drafting a 6'2 bigger armed version of a guy that can remind of Drew Brees?

If they dont move up? I think this is the guy Payton runs to the podium for. I would be ok with Nix and the 23rd pic - if the Vikings are. I personally would prefer Nix over Penix.
