It's still really early
#1
It's inevitable that this time of year the consensus rankings get pounded into our head and we think any prediction that deviates from consensus is just stupid. Just a reminder that it's still really early and nobody really knows anything yet.

I did a search for mock drafts that took place in March of 2017. There were literally dozens of mocks that are not even remotely close to how it actually went down. For example, here's Kiper's mock from March 22nd. Trubisky at 12 (he went 2). Patrick Mahomes isn't even in the 1st round (he went 10th).

Oh God yes. We Vikings fans are hyper focused this year because of TQBOTF, but the media 'experts' mostly get shit very wrong.

I've never understood mock drafting.  Or maybe I should say, why people get it confused with reality.

Like if I ran a radio controlled model boat on a lake and it sank, and then I called the coast guard and said "Get out here quick and rescue these poor passengers!"

Mock drafts are the raw meat content that EVERY football media throws out there at this time of year, when hope springs eternal for all 32 teams (and fans).  Yes, we know they are worthless (Mel Kiper is one of the worst at calling it correctly), but it's entertainment when there is no entertainment.
Instead of calling them Mock Drafts, we should call them what they are...."WILD ASS GUESSES"

Seems Kiper and others used to be much better at their jobs,  are they just getting lazy or are teams getting better at closing off those "sources" that used to feed guys like Kiper and Mayock their intel?
