Possibly getting rid of hip drop tackle

How do you breathe in those things?

Are there really that many injuries caused by this? These kind of tackles don’t seem all that common either.
They could teach players to slide down securing the legs without having to make it another subjective penalty called at the whim of the refs.

Bad idea in my opinion.

There will be a time that the NFL over micromanages the game, but until ratings suffer, it'll continue to be tweaked. I keep hearing faux fan outrage but its not showing up in the TV ratings.
with all the streaming devices,   are TV rating even accurate anymore, or are they voodoo math estimates?
I know you want to think that, but the metrics have never been better. How do you think the TV contracts remain so big? You can think what you'd like, but the fact is the NFL is King.

"NFL regular-season games averaged 17.9 million viewers in 2023, tied for the second highest since averages were first tracked in 1995"
you dont know shit... why would I want people to quit watching the NFL?  what is the gain for me,  more attention getting paid to ?

i simply have asked how do they know how many people are watching what when very few have a box sitting on top of a tv anymore that monitors their viewing for Nielson or who ever.  Is there an  accepted industry algorithm or is there a specific subset of society that willingly allows their device usage to be tracked by the ratings people?

how do they know?

as far as advertising people making decisions based on sound marketing information... who the fuck you trying to kid?

Yeah, apples for apples (eye roll).

I've heard you bitch about the NFL before, don't act like you haven't. So that's the shit I do know. Why the innocent act? Just own it, man.
What does bitching about stupid shit have to do with wanting to see the league go in the shitter?  I think you read intent into shit that isn't there.

If you don't know the answer then don't answer it.  I suspect it's based on hits online,  but I find that pretty inconsist with the way people multi task with multiple browsers and windows open multiple devices at any one time.

Dude, you are asking if the 'TV ratings' are even accurate.....why would you ask that? The metrics are there to measure viewership, its not a debate. It doesn't matter in what way people view the games. You find what inconsistent? You don't even know the metrics used, lol, yet you 'suspect' something. A contrarian for contrarian's sake.

I see fans of about every sport claiming viewership is at an all time high.  How is this possible,  are we as a society all just tuned into every sporting event available?  I question the accuracy of these claims, why do you take this so personal, I am not questioning your sexuality.

lol, just my point of view. It comes off harsher in writing.

Advertisers don't question the ratings. They pay a lot of money and its based off those metrics. Why you don't that is what I'm saying because you don't have any reason to.
End of story.

So they banned it! On our way to flag football. NFL tackle football is the king of sports. Hopefully it's evolution won't lead to it's eventual destruction.

Rule changes like this make you question how wise it is to even invest high draft picks into defensive players these days. Sure the best of the best are still worth the price but is the best CB in a draft worth what the best WR can give you this season. The next? Or the next? Rules are getting harder by the year on defenders. What little leeway they still have might be stripped away by the time their rookie deal is up. It’s not the only reason, but I do think there’s a safety in drafting offense right now— especially WR and QB.
