I understand there's a lot more to QBing that arm strength, but for a top 2 Draft prospect potentially....I don't know. I watched a highlight video yesterday and its what came to mind. I'm no scout of course, just a layperson observation. When 90% of these guys have time and stand solidly in the pocket, set and fire, it all looks good. But on the run or passing back across the field, then you see it. I'm guessing some of us haven't given this kid much attention as the assumption is we won't be getting near him. But I know others may have taken a look at highlights or are CFB fans like myself.
Took some notes when I watched these guys about a month ago. Here's what I noted on Daniels...
Jayden Daniels - 6-4, 210, skinny, smoothPhenomenal Runner. Fast, great run vision. Not Vick fast though. I’ll say 4.5. Might run too much. Takes a lot of HUGE hits. Runs recklessly. Just idiotic decisions when running. More worried about HIS health than Penix. Solid arm, flips it for 50. Good touch. But not real high velocity throwerScans field, seems to move off 1st read better than some. Better than Nix.Relaxed in interviews, expresses himself well, humble, sense of humorNo sure thing. Floor Marcus Mariota. Ceiling Lamar Jackson

Interesting that JJM might have the best arm in this class? If he doesn't, it's close.

Maroon, I had a similar take on Daniels when I watched him this year. The skinny frame is the first thing that jumps out, but he can run like Fields. And like Fields (in the NFL, not college), he has a tendency to use his legs too much and takes a lot of hits. If he tries to run like that in the NFL, I think he's going to be like Lamar where you have him for 12-15 games most years.
He has a nice arm and is accurate, but those deep sideline throws are where you see it float a bit. I like him as a prospect, but he's likely going before we could get him.
I'll just post the others here as well. I intended to go back and watch more and flesh these out a bit, but never got around to it.
Caleb Williams - 6-1, 215, thick, elite athletePlays with urgency and swagger. Good accuracy on the run, quick release, high velocity throwsCan hold the ball too long trying to make something happen. Drake Maye - 6-4, 230, Justin Herbert 2.0Plays a pro game. Can run, but not super fastUnderwhelming at first glance, inconsistent, but probably highest floor in the class. This is how you design a modern NFL QBAccurate, high energy, good arm, not elite though. He doesn’t have Will Levis’s arm or Justin Herberts, IMO, but he’s definitely a top level talent. Looks, sounds and plays like Justin Herbert. Smart, soft spoken, humble, can laugh at himself.WRs dropped over 8% of his passes. Bad surround at UNC. Ran a pro style offenseWill miss some layups. Michael Penix Jr - 6-3, 213, unathletic? Hard to tellProbably the most accurate QB in this class. Weirdest throwing motion I’ve seen since Tim Tebow. Is being a lefty throwing me off? His footwork is even worse. Throws every ball as if he’s riding a horse. Legs apart, body out of alignment. Understands urgency, gets the ball out quickly. Stays in pocket. This will translate wellBattle tested. Has defeated adversity, coming back from 4 injuries117 passes over 20 yards leads this class. Pressure vulnerable: 42% under pressure. 68.5 passer rating under pressureGood dude, but comes across a little thick in interviews.Good movement in the pocket, but never runs. Can he run? Have not seen a single run over 10 yards. Are there any? Floor is Teddy Bridgewater. Ceiling is Tua, but I think he can be better than that.
Bo Nix - 6-2, 216, thickQuick release and velocity, good anticipation, good touchGood accuracy to all three levelsThrows well on the runVery good runner, smart, good run instincts. Looks like a 4.6 guy. Not Jayden Daniels, but he’s a legit weapon as runner. See 80 yard run.
