I like what we're doing

Kwesi is slowly trying to clean up cap. one more year, “we was in cap hell”
Were going to have to trust the offensive people to try and find us a QB in the draft.
You can’t win or loose without trying.
Flores is wurking to get the defense in order.
I would say we are moving in the right direction.
Unfortunately Cousins had 6 years to try to get us to a super bowl. That didn’t exactly work out as planned, but I feel we are moving forward, I’m sure Cousins is happy with all his money.

I just hope that we do not give up the farm in order to move up to grab a qb.  If one falls to us at 11, great, if not, maybe look at someone later on, but everyone knows we are desperate to land one and the price tag to move up will probably be more for us than any other team, because the league perception, thanks to decision-making up to now, is that we are currently squarely bent over the barrel.
And how many other teams are in need of a qb? The Vikings aren't the only ones. Also it's not like was going to be a secret. It's a gamble to stay at 11 at this point. Sure it could be scary to move up but I would rather go all in than half ass it. We'll see how it plays out
Kwesi needs to do his job and make some tough evaluations with the help of KOC with the QB draft.  They might deem 3,2,1 QB's as franchise altering, assuming Williams goes 1.  If it is 1 then we have to go all in to get them.  If it is 2 then we might only have to move up a little or play Russian roulette (which I would not want).  If it is 3 then we might trade down and still get our guy.  We all have no idea how they view or will view things internally.

Let's assume Kwesi hits on the most important position.  We will have 5 years of a cheap rookie contract and maybe a decade of SB contending play.  It's a whole new direction, I think Smile

But what if we pass on all the QB's and wait until next season.  That would sting for 2024 but if we extend JJ/Darrisaw and reload with FA's I would not hate that strategy.  I want to build a SB contending team and that takes careful planning and not forced decisions.
This is exactly what RS and The Vikings tried to do in that 2015 era

Young team, ascending, great D and Bridgewater on a Rook contract.

Yes and we moved forward there too. They tried and it didn't work out but that doesn't mean you stop trying

We're in a good spot to grab that QB and we need a guy with a little more arm strength than Teddy had.   I think each of the top guys fit that bill.   Teddy was a decent QB, but not a guy to build around in retrospect. But, we also know that out of the top six guys, it's likely three will be decent, and three won't.  I would say my order for QB's would be Williams, McCarthy, Daniels, Maye, Penix Jr, and Nix in that order.  I do think Williams has a big bust factor to him as does Maye.  For somebody who hasn't seen a ton of action, I just get the feel that McCarthy is going to be a steal if you can get him at six or seven and I think the Vikes trade there to get him, or they believe in Penix and stay or even move down a little to grab him.  Dangerous to do with a QB, though.

If you want to see yet another example of the benefit of having a QB on a rookie contract, look no further than Houston who hit on their QB last season & had enough cap room to sign Hunter.

If Williams, McCarthy, and Daniels are gone before we pick, I say screw it, trade back in the 1st, get a 3rd rd. and a 4th rd. pick back, and go BPA , and take Pratt in the 4th as our QBOTF.

of course they had to let one of their own free agents walk though in the process.  IMO the sign of a rookie contract that is working is when you can have your cake and eat it too.  add to the talent you have,  not swapping talent for talent.

sometimes you need to see a plan through. Thats what we’re doing now. Kwesi will be right or wrong, but at least we are executing the plan. I for one was tired of being held hostage by Kirk. He signed an insane contract with Atlanta including a no trade clause.  That would have been a huge mistake.

I don't understand why you would say "screw it". It's a 6-deep QB class.  I keep saying Penix or Bo Nix will both be there at #11.  I like them both better than Campbell or Maye.  I promise whichever QB we don't take, Denver will be waiting at 12.  (They were also talking to Darnold BTW, and he accepted the Minnesota offer instead of the Broncos)

7) Tennessee Titans
8) Atlanta Falcons
9) Chicago Bears
10) New York Jets
11) Minnesota Vikings
12) Denver Broncos
13) Las Vegas Raiders
14) New Orleans Saints
16) Seattle Seahawks

Vikings are in a tough spot and vulnerable to having   at least 1 of the 4 teams behind them trading up to pick 8-10 to draft their QBOTF.

If McCarthy goes in Top 7, and a team  behind Vikings does indeed  leapfrog Vikings somewhere between 8-10. It'd mean the Vikings get the #6 option at QB with the 11th pick.....

Vikings will have to trade up if they want a QB IMO.
