At some point, you have to move on. Would you rather have Cousins for 4 years/180 million?
$45mm was my #

How the rest of it was structured or guaranteed? I dont get paid enough to figure that out.
Vikings offered more. Structure just wasn't going to work. They wanted to go year to year.
Vikings offered more more than 45m?  Were they willing to go 4 years?

Any idea what a plan B will look like?

Yup,

What do you envision as a Plan B (for bridge)
Do you expect them to get aggressive in moving-up for a QB, or is that not realistic or their style?
Translate year to year vs a 3 or 4 year guarantee?

Darnold is high on their list if they go the FA route, but think they will look at trade options as well. I don't foresee Fields, but Zach Wilson is apparently someone KOC is still high on and he'd be cheap. Davis Mills could be another option as well. But I think their goal is to find their franchise QB in the draft, which just might take biting the bullet and moving up.
If KOC is actually high on Wilson, I have zero faith in KOC's ability to judge NFL talent. There's a reason he'd be cheap. Davis Mills? Just give me another year of Hall.
There's just not much to pick from at this point. It's pretty much move up to draft a quarterback that can start almost immediately...or ride the Nick Mullens train to last place in the division

You know what, screw it…. bring on Darnold or Wilson. We’re basically the Jets before A-Rod right now. This will just complete the transformation

I see no reason to make matters worse by mortgaging the future with the absurd draft capital it would take to move up for the 3rd spot. They're all crap shoots. If you have to move up to 7 and do business with TN in order to block the Raiders or Broncos, that might make some sense, and save, a 1st and 2nd round future pick.

What a craptastic day. Love the defensive adds, but Cousins leaving is devastating.

I don’t think people grasp how much Cousins covered up the warts on this team. People talking about his playoff record are practicing some serious cognitive dissonance. The Vikings have not put together a well rounded roster since Cousins has been here. Look at how long it took them to get even an average offensive line. Or how about our epically bad defenses?

Cousins was never the problem. He was even priced well below his performance compared to his peers, If you want to know why there’s no title - way too many poor draft choices the past decade. Especially on defense and especially with high picks.

None of that was within Cousins control. He took a market contract from a solid team. They are loaded with offensive talent and had the 11th ranked D. I can’t blame him.

Kwesi better pull off a miracle or he’ll be toast. KOC will probably be ok, but definitely not KAM. After the epically bad first draft, this is a continuation of poor execution. I wouldn’t have liked the matched contract, but they could definitely have afforded it.

Was hoping he'd stay, but when I heard 4 years I said, "Goodbye and good luck." Then when the numbers came out and it was $100 mil guaranteed I knew there was noooooooo way the Vikings were going to pay that.

An interesting way to put it I heard from Cowherd today: "Minnesota's telling us they're done paying A+ money  for B+ QB"

Yep. Screw moving up to #3. Way too much comp.

He had some of the best offensive weapons to work with in the league his entire time here,  hard to say he was out there on his own.   He was a good not great QB that at time flashed great, but at times dog shit.  Now he's the Falcons saving grace and we can focus on our future.

This should take the Falcons out of the market for a QB in the upcoming draft, but this is good news and bad news. Good news is the Vikings would only have to trade up 3 picks, 200 draft chart points, to move from pick #11 to #8. The bad news is other QB starved teams will want the #8 pick as well. Since we don't have a 3rd round pick this year (200 draft points), we'll probably need to trade our #1 this year and next year's round 2 pick.
