Even the Bears may not be able to avoid drafting a great player this draft...
Love seeing them have to fight through whether to keep Fields or go another direction. The Bears were hoping to have clarity on Fields this year and I'm not sure they got that. Interestingly enough, the Vikings got plenty of clarity on the value of their starter in 23.

I mean I think they should have gotten clarity but maybe they didn't pay attention and will roll with Fields

Fields was drafted prior to hiring Poles & Eberflus, add new president & CEO Kevin Warren to that mix & what happens next is anyone’s guess…!

A. Keep Fields, draft Marvin Jr, get another first this year for DL, extra first next year for LB, OL, and then some.
B. Draft Williams, skip Marvin, get another first this year for DL, extra second next year for LB, OL, and then some. C. Draft Williams and Marvin, trade Fields for extra 2nd or 3rd this year. Man. Nice to have options. I’m guessing they’ll choose option C. But they could reeeeally load that roster up to contend as soon as next year if they keep Fields. Hate to say it but they’re in a great spot, whatever they choose. EDIT- On Caleb. Weird move. Chicago is a huge market with a franchise starved for a great QB. Seems like a fantastic landing spot tbh. Stuff like this is why a lot of people have a soft spot for Baker. Dude went to Cleveland, tried admirably, and got run outta town. And Williams is sticking his nose up at Chicago?! Ok.

Quote: @pattersaur said:Maybe this is the part that has Caleb nervous. It's not like the Bears haven't tried drafting QBs high over the years, yet every single one of them has been at best mediocre. Jay Cutler is literally the best QB the Bears have had in my lifetime. Caleb is likely thinking that Chicago could be on-field suicide, thus also limiting his eventual endorsements ceiling. Imagine if SF had taken Fields instead of Lance. There would be no debate by now whether Fields is the guy because if you can't play with that scheme and weapons you just can't play.

Wow, this is going to get ugly. Might turn into a draft-and-trade scenario like we saw with Eli Manning. San Diego got a 1st, 3rd and 5th for Manning...and probably got the better QB in Rivers.
