Greenway leavig a lasting legacy

For the first time since 2005, the #Vikings will head to Mankato without Chad Greenway.
During that span, he's made quite an impact on the organization and our community.
CHAD GREENWAY took pride in the names on the front and back of his jersey.

His journey from rural roots and 9-man football in South Dakota led him to dynamic play for Iowa in the Big Ten and eventually to his selection as the 17th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. Eleven years later, Greenway’s jersey is heading to his closet, but not before inspiring thousands to buy Purple 52s and wear them with pride.
They’ve seen him honor his name by becoming a principled leader in the locker room with a heart of purple while making commitments to his community with a heart of gold. A passion for the game, coupled with compassion for others has helped Greenway leave a lasting legacy.

Greenway was the last Viking to take — and leave — the field in the 2016 season. The Vikings linebacker stepped out from the tunnel as the dragon on the front of the Vikings ship unleashed fire.

Always been one of my favorite Vikings.  Totally class act.

Love the blue collar guys - Studwell - Greenway - Doleman - On and on.

This franchise has been blessed with some no nonsense talent, guys easy to root for.

(Can't imagine rooting for scissor-grabbing neck stabbers like Irvin)

thanks Cricket... Great read about a great Viking.  I dont think the league would have any issues if there were more players like Chad leading the teams.  its a shame he never got the national recognition he deserved for all he has done for the team and the community.

Greenway will always be one of my favorites. Looking forward to seeing his next chapter with the Vikings.

Class on and off the field.  No Greenway and no AD is going to be kind of weird to see.  2 long time Vikings no longer there.

Would be great to see him blowing the Gjallerhorn at the home opener, or honorary team captain for the coin flip.

That works too. But if we are in it, you could probably bet your house that Bud would on the field
