Matthew Stafford - QB - Lions

NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports there's "internal optimism" Matthew Stafford will be extended in the next two weeks.


With Derek Carr resetting the market, the Lions should already have Stafford's deal in place. Stafford projects for close to the $25 million AAV the Raiders gave Carr, though he’s older and coming off a slightly worse 2016. The Lions are hoping to have something done around the start of training camp.

We Viking fans have a lot of historical reasons to look down at the Lions and sneer...Not sure thats the reality anymore? I think they could make the case that as of lately at least, they have surpassed the Vikings in NFC North hierarchy.

they will  rise,  they will fall,  but rest assured lions fans are never very far from their paper grocery bags with the eye holes cut out.

They've arguably have had the best RB and the best WR of their day and did little with them.  They've overpaid for big time flops like QB Joey Harrington and WR Mike Williams and since the days of Sanders, have ignored the RB position.
Until that team puts their money into defense, they'll always be the ugly step-child of the NFC North.
