Bloom is off the rose for Dobbs. KOC not utilizing his mobility is dumb. Especially on the drive after the 4th qtr fumble recovery. Bears clearly understood this with Fields. Flores coaching amazing. Our last possession was the worst series of the game. But I don't think it was conservativeness to blame. The Vikings needed to be conservative here. They had to run time off the clock. They also needed to get at least 5 or 6 yards for a legit chance at a FG. A 1st down would've ended the game. Dobbs was delivering balls to Chicago all night, so any pass would've been dangerous. And a sack would've been disastrous. I don't have a problem with the play calls, only the execution.
------- Why so Conservative late? After taking a 10-9 lead on Hockenson's 17-yard touchdown with 5:54 to play, Josh Metellus forced Justin Fields to fumble and Anthony Barr recovered the ball at Chicago's 43-yard line with 3 minutes, 36 seconds left in the game. O'Connell called a run play to Alexander Mattison that went for no gain and then he called another run to Mattison that gained one yard. On third-and-nine with 2:41 to go, he called a passing play that Brandon Powell caught for a loss of a yard. They couldn't risk a 60-yard field goal attempt to give Chicago the ball at midfield, so they had to punt. Had they just picked up one first down the game would've been all but over. Had they just moved the ball from the 43 to 35 or so they could've given Greg Joseph a chance to make a long field goal and force the Bears to beat them with a touchdown rather than a field goal. -------- https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethes...s-to-bears

Another brutal loss. I'm still tilting honestly.
Blame game: 1. Dobbs was god awful. Period. 2. KO is calling waaaaay too few designed runs for Dobbs. Maybe he's gunshy after Hall got knocked out so fast but if we want to win games it's gonna be with Dobbs' legs and improvisations, not his arm. These two are far and away the top two reasons IMO that we lost. I think KO is a very good coach and getting better but I cannot understand his resistance to calling Dobbs run plays. Dobbs looked way better playing sandlot ball when he didn't know the offense than he does right now. Honorable mention blame: 3. No run game still. Mattison had a few nice runs but overall the run game still stinks. 4. Dobbs/KO continuing to throw at Jaylon Johnson who is a nice player, but we made him look like Revis Island all night and kept going at him, even as the Bears defense kept getting dinged up with injuries. The Good: BFlo and the Defense: A+. Fell on some fumbles finally, got some sacks, and prevented TDs. Impressive and it sucks our offense blew this game for them. Last note: The Bears defense played very well. Good gameplan, got pressure all night long, and had a couple of very nice plays to cause turnovers. Credit to them. Oh and did I mention I that was a BRUTAL loss? Still pissed. Same ol Vikes. UGH

So if I get this right....
The QB throws 4 int's, is off on 85% of his throws all night, the coach limits his passing cause the guy is clearly in over his head.. So this is the coaches fault?

Also, despite all the mistakes just like last week, the game was there for the taking, you needed one first down and the game was over, 2 runs up the middle and a screen pass was not going to get it done. Neither he or Flores can coach under pressure, two weeks in a row they both choked on the last drive and that is the main reason why we lost the last two games. Players are going to make mistakes, but coaches have to be the ones to hold it together, our coaches compound the poor play. |
