Anthony Barr is back!

If he has compartment syndrome and had a procedure for it I’m going to assume it was a fasciotomy. Depending on the size of the wound, it could take a couple months or more to heal, so this could end up shelving Hicks for the season IF that’s the procedure he had.

Back in the early 90s I was a ward clerk on the rehab unit of a hospital locally. We had a teenage patient who developed compartmental syndrome and they split his leg open fron the knee to just above the ankle. It’s a big surgery but again at this point it hasn’t been said what procedure Hicks had or how extensive the compartment is.
That sounds absolutely awful. The amount of injuries has to catch up at some point. Losing Hicks for the season would certainly be another uppercut to the nads

The Minnesota Vikings are planning to reunite with linebacker Anthony Barr, who visited the Philadelphia Eagles hours before a report of his return to Minnesota.Barr made headlines for his visit with the Eagles on Monday, November 13, before the Vikings moved in quickly, given an open spot at linebacker following Jordan Hicks‘ hospitalization with a compartment disorder in his right leg.
Barr ultimately chose to return to his home of eight seasons — Minnesota.

It won't be long, that's for sure. Bone on bone with the knees at this point?

Ha! Unlikely. But I talked to him via text just yesterday.

This is good and bad news. Good that Barr might get to finish his career in Minnesota and reunite with teammates like Harry and Hunter.

But I don't like what this might say about Hicks, who was really shining in this Flores defense.

Agreed. We’re probably in the minority but I’m glad Barr is back. He was a solid player for us for a long time and I always had a soft spot for him for whatever reason. Zim loved the guy to a fault I think and asked him to do way too much at times. Famously he had Barr “covering” Coopee Kupp in that one shootout we had in primetime against them where Goff and Kupp went ballistic on us. Assignments like that are setting guys up to fail. Barr wasn’t blameless, especially later in his tenure, but he plays hard and hopefully still has something in the tank. Sidenote I wish we’d signed JPP too. I still cringe whenever I see Patrick Jones on the field.

I’m guessing Hicks is out for the year at this point. Hopefully he can heal up and be ready to rock in 2024.

I lost track of Barr. Didn't even know he was a free agent. So I don't know how much he'll help us. He's 31, same age as Hicks, but with a more significant injury history. We really need Asamoah to get healthy.
