A 24 point lead in the 3rd quarter. Then KOC starts channeling Mike Zimmer and gets his head completely up his ass. We're just lucky our secret weapon, Jameis Winston, got onto the field in time to bail out the old ballcoach.
He did get conservative and he admitted as much after the game. They still left 10 points on the field in the 2nd half. Vikings were the better team, even with the injuries. Good coaching.
Or did the Saints make defensive adjustments after the half that other teams can now follow?
A lot happened.
Yes, KOC got conservative but that's kinda understandable. He was playing the clock as much as the Saints.
The Saints went desperate early and had to go for it on 4th down several times and I think they converted each time.
Winston plays very aggressive YOLO ball. Sometimes it works (2 crazy TDs) and sometimes it fails (2 INTs - should have been 3).
Some questionable calls from the refs that went against the Vikings including the call against Hunter.
Greg Joseph pushes it right, of course.
O'Neill was getting trucked on the Chandler TD but then hugged the defender and it looked like O'Neill brought him down - correct call.
Dobbs trips over his own feet on a third down run - punt. . . . I could go on.
All this, and we still beat the Saints. I don't hate them as much without their asshole coach who is now in Denver, but they are still the Saints. Big home win. Look at what happened to the Ravens and Cinci yesterday. They would love to have won ugly.
This is true. The Vikings had a lot of September-like WTF plays in the 2nd half.

This is kind of what I'm saying: it was a really weird half. Saints pulled shit out of their asses, Vikings got horrible penalties and the worst times, etc. It wasn't what New Orleans did, its just they went into 'fuck the world' mode and Jameis is perfect for that....until he isn't. Seeing KOC's strategy on why he turtled up a bit makes a ton of sense.

I mean, Dobbs missed all of OTAs, Training Camp, preseason, and the first 8 games. What do you expect?

I thought it was funny that Jameis was exactly who he's always been.

I'm not even talking about Dobbs. I'm talking about the weird-ass shit Dade mentions above. The trip, the missed FG, the phantom penalties, etc.

KOC knew the odds and probabilities. Here he is looking for just ONE score (FG or TD) in the 2nd half to put it out of reach:
W........... All that matters!
Fun game. Love being on the winning streak. But did anyone really expect Joseph to make that kick?

Nope. Idk his exact numbers but I bet he’s sub-50% from 50+ with MIN. I was fine with KO trying the kick given the situation, but yeah I was also pretty sure he’d miss.

It used to be, we expected to lose the close games. We let the team hang around and its bites us. The last year and a half has been chipping away at that feeling. By the end of last year, going into the fourth being down, I still expected us to win. It is a very un-vikings like feeling and its awesome.
But man, it would be nice to expect the kicker to make these kicks.
Still, great win and a great feeling after all they have had to go through. Two games with Detroilet yet, so the division is still possible.
