Masters of missed opportunities and turnovers
#21
The rose is off the bloom on Kwesi and Kevin.

I still don't understand what made us believe that KOC was the guy to begin with.  He's showing he is over his head at this point.  Terrible time management, coaching decisions, no accountability for performance, same mistakes game after game.

Both he and Kwesi seem like very woke hires frankly.  Young and cool but unexperienced and it is showing.

While I do agree that the honeymoon is over, our losses are
much more due to players screwing up than anything KOC is doing.  I think KAM takes some blame for our losses, partially
because of last years draft, but mostly because this year is our rebuilding
year and the roster isn’t where it needs to be, but it’s part of the plan.

When you drop SEVEN passes and the other team makes plays like this on 3rd and 18, you're not going to win...

I'm not watching this play again. I was fuming. It happens to Minnesota...a lot. Don't forget this gem:

Yep....I don't typically lose it when watching the Vikings anymore, but that ridiculous prayer on 3rd and 18 that Mahomes threw up....and converted....well, let's just say a new remote is arriving from Amazon today.
But was it really any different from Kirk's 4th and 17 prayer to JJ in Buffalo that JJ literally wrestled out of the hands of the defender as he fell down?

It just feels improbable when it happens to you.  When it happens to the other guy well, hip hip hooray for the Vikings!  =)

Nope, it's no different at all. Luck plays a big part in the NFL.

It seems like we have a handful of players who are really trying to do all they can to win a football game and honestly, the majority of this team seems like they really do not want to be out there.  I don't see a 100% effort or focus from most guys. I think that starts with coaching and management and I expect as this team continues to lose that we are going to hear stories of dysfunction that will make the Zimmer era seem like a lovefest.

It's in their heads now. Watching the game and that first drive my son says please don't fumble and boom. It's like you can feel it coming. But it is totally the inverse of last year in many ways. It's beyond a few plays here and there, there are serious holes to address. They need to plan beyond this year. I know they want butts in the seats but they have to have a better product for the people watching. The turnovers are a killer though

I'm far from ready to just absolutely shit all over KAM and KOC, I like KOC a ton and I'm still in limbo with KAM as I'm giving him one more Draft/offseason signings next year then I'll access. I'm a fan of the Wilfs as owners big time.

But even with some sporadic wins this year, you can see that its time to rebuild and look ahead. Enough of this not being a reality. The organization can say what it wants publicly, but privately they better be preparing. Right now.
KAM screams Diversity Hire. I'm sure I will get roasted for that opinion, but this is what the NFL has been pushing for years. He had zero experience running a draft, building a roster, or managing free agents. I think he is bright guy with his analytics but has zero Football instincts and is in over his head running an NFL Franchise.
I've been saying that exact thing since he was hired and have been getting roasted by pretty much everybody on this board, but sometimes the truth hurts and eyes are starting to open that maybe this guy really isn't as smart as everybody thought he was. Hiring anybody to run a football team with virtually zero scouting or personnel experience is assanine. But hey, at least the Wilfs got to check their "diversity box" with the commissioner.

I think this is a completely fair take. Nobody should roast you for this. If there are some people that don't understand that 'diversity' hires sometimes means hiring a candidate of lesser quality than others, they are naive. I'm not saying that KAM falls under that opinion, but maybe he does. I don't know.

I'm giving him another full year, but that's me. I don't begrudge anyone else their opinions on him and what he's done so far.

I would also add that Kwesi hired Grigson as his right hand man to help him make decisions. He was a complete failure in Indy, and now seems to have some significant influence in the room. If I'm Mark Wilf, I have to ask the question of why do I need Kwesi if he needs to hire an Ex-GM to help him do his job? I respect your decision to hold off for another year, but after last year's draft and some of the other decisions he's made, I have zero confidence in his ability and have major concerns that he will continue to set this franchise back every day he is in charge moving forward.
Yup, also brought this up at draft time. Why the hell would you want Ryan Grigson in your ear when it comes to decision making!? Might as well bring Matt Millen along for the ride. Again, the Wilfs are good owners but completely clueless when it comes to football decisions

I like KOC.  But why is the team so unprepared this year versus last?

By unprepared I mean, penalties, lack of focus, dropping crucial passes.  Thankfully I haven't wasted much time watching it, but the times I did tune in, KJO drops a critical pass.  Cousins missing a throw.

Dunno, looks like a team that either believed their own bullshit about destiny and failed to prepare or a team that needs a good old Zimmer kick in the ass.  Maybe the nice guy coach failed.
Probably a number of things like: Teams have a better understanding of KOC's offense in year two. The o-line being a mess last year and early on this year. Kirk taken a lot of hits since last year, which may be affecting his play. Some of his passes have been sailing high. Also, since the acquisition, Hock has taken a lot of hard shots immediately after making a catch, which may be starting to have an effect.
