Sums it up. Frustrating to see the glimmers of good play, then a missed throw, missed tackle, dropped pass, etc. The team is brutally inconsistent, especially in situational play. The D is definitely better than last season, but the pass rush can go missing. Cousins has played very well, but I'm seeing him miss on a throw or two that he didn't last season. He's also throwing short of first downs on 3rd down more than I remember last year. I'm not blaming this loss on Cousins, but we sure could use a more mobile QB in the pocket. I watched NFL Redzone the whole time for the early games and almost all other teams have QBs that have mobility and it makes a difference. They may not have Kirk's accuracy, but they move to get out of pressure and throw downfield WAY more than Cousins.
I just don't get from this point how you don't start to plan for the rebuild. There must have been 35% Chiefs fans in US Bank yesterday, fans are ready to give up. The NFL has become a very expensive thing to support as a fan/season ticket holder by going to the stadium if they stink. The thought of having 4 season tickets, going to the stadium, buying beer/food, parking, etc. and then watch them lose? Screw that shit. Its expensive being a hardcore fan today in the NFL. Its a LOT cheaper to do from home.
It just feels SO Vikings to win 13 games last year the way they did, have a gross loss in round 1 in the playoffs, then already lose as many games they did all of last season and lose the way they are.
Was telling my son before the game the worst thing that could happen (and the most likely) is the Vikings coming out and showing the world they can play with the Chiefs, and then shooting themselves in the foot again. And of course that's exactly what happened.
I agree with Romo, this is a better team than last year. They just can't get out of their own way. But at 1-4 now, a key injury, and teams like the Saints and Falcons looking much better than they did before the season, the Vikings are getting close to the shift in focus from '23 to '24.
My biggest concern is that they won't act before the trade deadline clinging to the delusion they can still turn their season around and we will wind up with zero draft capital for players who won't be here next year.
Situational masters.. quiet minds .. collaboration culture... champagne problems... corporate-speak-a-palooza!
You know what bad teams are? Sloppy, mistake-prone, short on talent, poorly coached, poor drafting, owners hire the wrong guys, etc. This team is all of the above.
I'm far from ready to just absolutely shit all over KAM and KOC, I like KOC a ton and I'm still in limbo with KAM as I'm giving him one more Draft/offseason signings next year then I'll access. I'm a fan of the Wilfs as owners big time.
But even with some sporadic wins this year, you can see that its time to rebuild and look ahead. Enough of this not being a reality. The organization can say what it wants publicly, but privately they better be preparing. Right now.

KAM screams Diversity Hire. I'm sure I will get roasted for that opinion, but this is what the NFL has been pushing for years. He had zero experience running a draft, building a roster, or managing free agents. I think he is bright guy with his analytics but has zero Football instincts and is in over his head running an NFL Franchise.

I think this is a completely fair take. Nobody should roast you for this. If there are some people that don't understand that 'diversity' hires sometimes means hiring a candidate of lesser quality than others, they are naive. I'm not saying that KAM falls under that opinion, but maybe he does. I don't know.
I'm giving him another full year, but that's me. I don't begrudge anyone else their opinions on him and what he's done so far.

I hesitate to call us “bad” because we’re in about every game, but I don’t disagree with any of your reasoning aside from maybe, “owners hire the wrong guys”. Current regime deserves more time and the Zimmer/RS combo pack was dandy for awhile. So I wouldn’t call either of them bad hires. Chilly and Frazier… yep, real bad and that was mostly obvious at the time both were hired and became even moreso quickly.
Sloppy, talent-bereft, and maybe not poorly coached but definitely not expertly-coached are all cold hard facts right now.
One growing negative thought in the back of my mind was Zimmer’s mismanagement in two-minute situations and timeouts. Year after year it happened and never got fixed. I’m seeing similar things from KO right now and I hope he’s able to correct them in ways Zim never did, but maybe this is just something you either have or you don’t as a coach? Not sure.

I would also add that Kwesi hired Grigson as his right hand man to help him make decisions. He was a complete failure in Indy, and now seems to have some significant influence in the room. If I'm Mark Wilf, I have to ask the question of why do I need Kwesi if he needs to hire an Ex-GM to help him do his job? I respect your decision to hold off for another year, but after last year's draft and some of the other decisions he's made, I have zero confidence in his ability and have major concerns that he will continue to set this franchise back every day he is in charge moving forward.
