Two days until Detroit at KC kicks off the season. I have some low-level heartburn that the Lions might be pretty good. They've accumulated some playmakers and RB Jahmyr Gibbs could be a superstar. Might have a coming out party against the Chiefs. Gross to think about. ![[Image: giphy.gif?cid=6c09b9525glsryqt5zskyuty4k...y.gif&ct=g]](https://media0.giphy.com/media/mWMML2LQBsj8k/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b9525glsryqt5zskyuty4kxy0fju4eosrvga26hv90ly&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)

Should be a good one. I expect the Lions to be right there with the Vikings fighting it out for the division title. So getting a game up on them week 1 will be big.

I think they're weak at WR depth. There's really nothing past the sun god. Their defense is similar to ours in that they were horrible last year, but added some pieces that might need time to gel but should be quite a bit better than it was a  year ago.

Put it this way…if somehow, maybe not this year…well…it could be ANY year, truthfully…but if somehow the Lions win a Superbowl before the Vikings I may have to pick up my damn ball and go home permanently
Seriously, if the Lions win the Superbowl before we do, then my whole NFL fandom was a lifelong act of futility, with the only redemption being multiple Superbowl wins to heal the wound of them getting one before us. After all, they have been the doormat of our division since the beginning and it just goes against science, nature, and religion for it to be otherwise….I know im not the only one who feels this way, right guys?? :# :#

That's not the way I think as a Viking fan, but I hear where you're coming from.

While 98 left permanent scars, the closest Ive come to hanging it up as a fan was probably 2010.
The 2009 Vikings were not reincarnated, the metrodome roof metaphorically collapsed and the Packers win the SB with a young QB who just happened to have HOF & better than Favre written all over him.

Well if the Lions just get to the Superbowl it will move us to the top of the list.

I think the Lions will win the NFC North and maybe a playoff game or two.  They looked very good the last couple months of last year going 8-2 in their last 10 games.  They kicked our ass and the Packer's and Bears twice each during that stretch. We'll see how it plays out, but the Vikes aren't going to be "gifted" the NFCN crown this season.

I think they will lose in KC which is expected.  Not sure about their Defense.  It was worse than ours last year and they kept their DC.

Until they prove otherwise, they are still the Lions. Rebuilding since 1957.

I don’t really care how the Lions do.  I’m much more worried with how the Vikingsdo.    As far as other teams winning SBs instead of
us, I’d much rather see fanbases with much heartbreak in their history win as
opposed to a team that’s already had so much success.  Like I don’t really feel like a strong need
to poo-poo the Lions and then watch the Chiefs or Patriots win another one.  The only thing that I think is really gross
is if Love turned out to be good.  That’s
a fanbase that needs a couple decades of middle of the road to bottom of the
 barrel QBing.
