Williams signs with the Vikings after spending the past four seasons with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in the second round (45th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Nashville, Tennessee, native has appeared in 36 regular-season games (one start) and has tallied 41 tackles (31 solo), eight passes defensed and one quarterback hit. He has also played in two postseason games (one start) and registered six solo tackles. Williams was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 16, 2022, where he remained for the 2022 season. At Vanderbilt, he saw action in 36 games over three seasons and posted 119 tackles, 30 passes defensed, four interceptions and one forced fumble.

Dude's a pretty big corner - 6'3. Supposedly a press corner, so he fits the scheme. Former 2nd round pick.

Vikings desperately needed some depth in their corner room. Don't think this necessarily changes what they do in the draft, but nor did I think CB was likely in the 1st round. Vikings may not agree with me, but I think CB is more of a round 3-4 need.

The more I think about it, the more I think WR is the most likely pick in round 1. This is a contract year for KJO and with us giving pots of money to JJ, it's not likely we'll be able to pay KJO market value. IOW, it's not as much about upgrading KJO as it is about finding his replacement, because he's very likely gone in '24.

They absolutely need more DB's.

Now if Joey Porter is there at 23? That would be hard to pass-up. But I dont think that's going to happen - at all.

WR might be the sweet spot at 23 (if they stay there). I have no idea with this regime will do after the last draft. Moving on up or moving on down.

Kwesi seems to like taking on reclamation projects. He traded for Reagor & Blacklock last year, now signing Williams. The former two haven't panned out, but maybe with a full offseason they can at least be serviceable contributors.

Missed last season with a shoulder injury, must be ok now if he passed the physical. Depth in the CB room if nothing else.

A 2nd round pick with 1 start in 3 seasons, then dumped on IR for his 4th.  Replacing Kris Boyd as the team's "listed at CB but can't actually cover anyone" player.

Agreed. Its depth you hope rarely sees the field. Cap economics.

Never heard of him. Of course I had never heard of Kwesi either until he got the job.
Cap strapped GM's are forced to find the best schmoe in free agency. Appears to be another Schmoe. Hope I'm wrong.

1-year deal for CB Joejuan Williams with the #Vikings. He’ll be in town in a few days to undergo a physical.

Comes from NE. A lot of what Flores will run here expected to be the same, so picked MN over a couple others due to comfort with system.

He picked Minn over other teams...
