Is the secret plan to be a running team?

Maybe this is the guy they are targeting and not a QB? This is a special talent:

The only way I consider him is if we sign Shelley, DJ Chark and about a half dozen defensive players are off the board. And even then there's the QB thing.

Don't sleep on Ty Chandler. I think he could actually emerge as the starter among this group. RBBC seems to be the trend in the NFL these days anyway.

Yep, don't mind if the Vikings go RBBC at all. I do like Chandler and Mattison. I'm just curious if there's a strategy here by KAM and KOC concerning offensive style. I think fans don't entirely realize that new regime really hasnt put their total stamp on what they want to do offensively and defensively. Much of that is work with what we have while we change things to how we want them.

Drafting Bijan would be a statement selection for the offensive strategy. Not saying at all that is their inclination, just wondering out loud if it is.

I think the savvy fans know full well this is really year 1 of the changing of the RS/MZ guard.

Much as I love me a good tailback, NFW they better draft a RB at 1. Not with what they have in the stable already and with so many holes on this team.

Lets not forget last year may have been one of the worst D's the Vikings have fielded since Frazier was head coach.

I think we've had defenses that finished worse statistically, but I don't ever remember a defense so shockingly inept, especially in the mid-level passing game.

It's one thing to have a defense whose players are consistently a beat slow in coverage. That's on the player. He's where he's supposed to be; he's just not good enough. Last year's defense would have receivers running wild and free with nary a defender within 5 yards. That suggests scheme to me, missed assignments, etc...and why I have hope for a quick turnaround with Flores. Hope not expectation.

Mostly, yes. But for the special ones? Probably not so much. Again, not advocating that Minnesota does that. But also was surprised to see Minnesota sign Josh Oliver, so who knows what is planned. The Giants wanted to do that with a talent like Saquon Barkley but his career has been injury plagued so far. Draftniks are saying Bijan is a bigger talent than Barkley coming out. To your point, even with all the accolades given Bijan, he's still going to go in the back 1/3rd of the 1st round.

A strong running game also helps your defense immensely.

I'd take him....but there's no way the Bills don't take him.  So unless you're trading up for him which I wouldn't do. then this is a moot point.

I definitely understand that but they have to be very careful with the picks they do have. Cobble together a running back by committee tandem. I know Bijan is being hyped and all but hoping it's a smokescreen
