Why are we doing such short deals?  Davenport for 1-yr and Murphy for 2?

I like the signing, we needed a young vet to round out our CB room.  Now bring back Shelley.

When you sign younger players predominantly it becomes a marketing tool. Playing an inefficiency of getting players on good deals with the idea they can retry FA at or before age 28 for a longer term deal.

As for Murphy, he's a solid DB. More of a high-end #2 that #1. Can hold up on the outside but has a ton of value in the slot as well. Finding a capable DB who could play inside & out was the key to anyone they signed in FA. Really opens them up to additional draft options and doesn't force a man-to-man corner early.
