Derek Carr set to sign with New Orleans Saints, per reportsDerek Carr is apparently headed to the Big Easy.
The Saints are closing in on a four-year deal with the free-agent quarterback, according to multiple reports. 
The Saints were one of three team’s Carr met with this offseason. He also had meetings with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets.
Carr was originally selected by then-Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL draft out of Fresno State. He was with the team for nine seasons, including when the franchise moved to Las Vegas in 2020. He was the Raiders’ primary starting quarterback for all nine of his years with the Silver and Black, earning four Pro Bowl nods, including one in 2022. The 31-year-old QB was released by the Raiders on Feb. 14 after he was benched by coach Josh McDaniels for the final two games of the season.
Carr’s amassed 35,222 passing yards, 217 touchdowns and 99 interceptions in 142 career games. He’s registered a 63-79 record. He holds many of the Raiders’ passing records, including most passing yards and touchdown passes. Carr helped the Raiders reach the playoffs twice (2016 and 2021), though he didn't play in the 2016 wild-card game because of an injury.

In New Orleans, he is reunited with Saints coach Dennis Allen, who was the Raiders' coach in Carr's 2014 rookie season before being fired just four games into the year.

2. Since 2011, only three teams have used more round 1-3 picks on QBs than the Vikings.

But since the Vikings inception, I doubt there is a team who has spent less draft capital on QB. Since 2011, those were all so helpful.

I think the key to that stat is including the 3rd round in #2.

Ponder was a bad pick. Bridgewater was bad luck with a freak injury. And Mond was what so many fans have always wanted, take a flier on a potential franchise qb. Beside the desperation Ponder pick, its not a terrible history for a team that seldom picks in the top half of the first round.

Ponder is the poster child for "reach" a terribly over-drafted pick.  Dont know what the ceiling on Teddy would have been here in MN with a good surround. Maybe not anything more than journeyman? 

The thing that always killed me about the Vikings and QB's (since Pepp) was just the sheer # of bad ones...They never made the move up to grab somebody they had conviction about. I guess Teddy would have been that guy, but the overall list of QB's is embarrassing and was tough for Vikings fans to deal with. Especially with GB having 30 years of HOF QB'ing between just Favre and Rogers.

Looking back I marvel at how Denny brought in Moon, Cunningham, George, McMahon and even drafted Culpepper was a beast for a few seasons.
