The only reason the Vikings are 13-4 is Kirk Cousins. Statistically for him historically, not the best. But in fire, consistency, toughness, and being extremely clutch, he's never ever been better. Kirko Chainz was always there, but this is the staff and team that brought it out in him. Watching him change plays at the line is almost heart warming, rarely to never was allowed to do it under Z.

Nobody's perfect, but this dude should be celebrated more in Minnesota. But I think that narrative has shifted with VikingNation....Big Kirko changed that. Got a weird feeling that Minnesota might be in the NFC Championship game. Yep, it's odd. But this team's resiliency is beyond good. It's unsettling for long-timers. Is this a parallel universe? lol. But of course the 4 losses have to be so gross that you're left with no choice but to doubt them. Ahh, this I recognize....we can't have nice things.  :p

Might be different this time. Wouldn't it actually be more on brand for this star crossed franchise to finally win a Super Bowl this way?

while I agree that he deserves a lot of recognition,  he was bailed on a lot of otherwise uncatchable balls by JJ.   If we want to talk about why the team is  where its at.... essentially the team MVP,  I have to vote for JJ.  of the 5 games where he was held for under 100 yards ( ok 98 since the cards game he only had 98)  the Vikings lost 4 of those 5 games.  ( I am also not counting the final bears game since they didnt let most the starters have a full game.)  Sure he cant throw the ball to himself,  but the circus catches and the range he showed this year,  not to mention the beatings he has taken on some of those poorly placed balls or balls that shouldnt have been thrown, makes JJ my team MVP.

Kirk has played better in some ways this year,  worse in some ways,  his willingness to stand and deliver in the face of a pretty certain ass whooping is admirable,  and his leadership has certainly come to the surface under a coach willing to let kirk be the man.  I wouldnt give 2 shits for the kirko crap,  I honestly dont care if he is cut out of a target ad,  the next edition of GQ, or wears his baseball hat backwards,  all I care about is if he gets the job done,  and can we afford to make the team better around him to maybe, someday, win that fucking elusive SB.  He gets the job done, and I have beat the other matter to death so... Nice season to Mr, Cousins.

Yes, I think we are results oriented as fans. Yet the most interesting parts are in the story, how it came to be. The journey, if you will. Like this article. I can't just cross my arms, wait for a Superbowl win and when that doesn't happen, stamp it a total lost season.

That may be so,  but years later,  how many of those failed seasons are we talking about the good parts vs how we were once again crushed as fans?  DNelson down at the goal line stopped short, the missed kicks, the cheating saints,  etc etc etc,  its not often we sit around and talk about the high points of a season that came up short.  I appreciate a good journey,  still think about lots of great times on vacations with my family,  but anymore this is more like ground hog day,  we've seen the same results with just different twists to get there.  For me at least the journey is getting stale and the same end result is just disappointing.   The only interesting thing really left is learning the new characters,  but its a journey I haven't able to get off for 50 years so I keep answering that damn alarm each morning thinking maybe this will be the day/season something new happens to break this cycle.

Yes, of course. But its Ground Hog Day until it isn't....if you know what I mean. The Cubs won the World Series. Shit changes, even after decades and decades of the same endings. Not saying at all it won't end Sunday potentially against NY. Could be a disappointing game. But this has been a fun and interesting season without focusing on where and when it ends, but rather how the team got to 13 wins.

Resiliency could carry this team a long way.

KOC deserves a lot of the credit (along with KC) on KC's development as a pro. Time will tell if we have a QB whisper as HC.

This year has show how even an old dog can learn new tricks. Kudos to KC.

I do focus on how we've got to 13 wins and although the outcomes are exciting,  the games were pretty frustrating to watch with the O being hyper jekyll amd Hyde and banging their heads against the same rock for far to long.

I watched expecting to see growth and in year one it should have been very noticeable,  but I have only seen small improvements and thats what frustrates me as a fan.

This weekends game should be an easy win,  we have the better roster,  at home, shut down their run game, make Jones make plays from a tight pocket,  and run our offense,  but I doubt they make it as easy as it should be.

The biggest change is that they've gotten Kirk to show some aggression situationally vs. solely read his progressions. It arguably has been one of the larger turning points if you could account for all the reasons they've improved in 1 score games.

With that said, I wouldn't put him on a pedestal quite yet. There have been a lot of missed opportunities and its statistically why its been one of his worst seasons in the NFL.

He's played to his contract, which has always been the case albeit the media didn't think so prior to this season. But there are still plenty of long-term questions (not next season) on how they want to approach quarterback since he'll be 35 prior to next season. He hasn't suffered any major injuries (knock on wood) but that 36-40 year range is where QBs typically drop-off.

I agree, I think the difference has been that he has been played his best in the big moments of games.

New offense, new coaching staff, horrific defense......13 wins. Last year, better stats but....can't elevate a team, not clutch, etc. I guess if you're Kirk Cousins, you have to navigate the goalposts moving constantly and even then, don't expect much as far as respect. He'll never escape this narrative, especially since many fans have bought into it.

I'm far from putting him on a pedestal. I just don't get those that want to keep him in the basement.
