I don't really understand how the Bengals can win the division and have fewer losses than the Ravens and still have to flip a coin?   I also do not see how the Bills beat KC in KC head to head and yet KC would get the #1 seed despite them both having 3 losses.  There was no perfect solution, however common sense could have been factored into the equation.  But we do know that common sense is not so common in the NFL.

Leave it to the NFL to find a way to overcomplicate something.

What's weird is they have an established rule that if a game is cancelled, the standings go by win %.  But for some reason they felt the need to toss that out and create this convoluted participation trophy model instead.

Exactly!  This is so stupid, that game should have resumed either yet that night or the next day.  Not playing was not going to help Hamlin in any way. Regardless of whether they should have played or not though,  their is an established protocol and now KC potentially gets screwed out of home game

KC is actually the team that benefits from the situation more than anyone.  There is no way they deserve to have the bye if the Bills win tomorrow.  How do you give them the bye over a team they lost to at home?   Playing the championship game on a neutral site would be a win for them, cause they should be on the road.

Win percent is win percent,  once the players chose to not finish the game that gives the chiefs the best win percentage for the afc regular season.  Its not a great situation,  but the rules are what they are and changing them mid stream is as bad as the refs inconsistencies and anything else that pisses us off about the NFL.
