The 4 losses have been ugly

vikings have been horrible late in the regular season for a long time. Nothing new to see here. when they become stronger finishers i will take notice.
I'm casually looking through the last 15 or so years and our record outdoors after December 1st is like 6-18.   I heard the other day on SKOR we are the worst team on natural grass in the league for a long period of time, way below .500 but can't recall the specifics.   Bad regardless.

The team hasn't really consistently been a contender since the 1970's, getting on towards 50 years ago now.   Since then it's just been the occasional really good or bad year with a lot of average in between.

Vikings are currently 26th in salary cap space at 7 million over the cap for next season. Bears have the most money to spend while the Lions have the 10th most money to spend in free agency.

So was the juice worth the squeeze going all in on 2022?
Too early to say. Like you, I was in favor of a more aggressive rebuild not only this past season, but the one prior to it also. But if we make a miraculous run deep into the playoffs then yes I think it's been worth it and I'll admit I was wrong. Without that deep run, then it's harder to say. This season has certainly been a lot of fun at times so I'm grateful for that. Unfortunately with this franchise there's no such thing as "Super Bowl or Bust" in my opinion because if that were the case the bandwagon would be completely empty after all these years. I'm the type of fan who would gladly trade one SB win for 10 seasons of total crap and I'd sign on the dotted line right now, but sadly that's not how these things work. So I try my best to enjoy the ride. Even if this year doesn't end the way I hope, I can't deny the Bills game, Colts game, Giants game, and others have been a helluva lot of fun.

But all of those in favor of a more 'aggressive rebuild'.....there's no guarantee that actively rebuilding is going to work. There are teams in the NFL that are in rebuild mode for 20 years. The Vikings WON the NFCN this year and will host at least one home playoff game. You can't dismiss that and it never would have happened with an aggressive rebuild gameplan for 2022. I think the issue is the fans that wanted a 'rebuild' this year act like there's guaranteed improvement as a byproduct: nope. Look around the NFL. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try, of course, but its not easy. The teams that succeed at the rebuild process almost always do so with hitting the jackpot on drafting a QB.

The Vikings' strategy was correct. And they know they need to do a soft reboot, they've mentioned as much all offseason. But not at the expense of a 12+ win season because they realized it was at least possible.

Yeah, let's do what the Bears did! LOL.

A tear down this offseason was a ridiculous idea for so many reasons. Many have already been mentioned a dozen times, but one that hasn't been mentioned much is Justin Jefferson. This team won its division, will host a playoff game and JJ is probably going to win OPOY. None of that happens in a rebuild.

Rebuilding also sends as message to your young stars that you have no intention of competing for a few years. So it's even hard to keep the players you want to "rebuild" around. See Raquon Smith.

Anyone thinks JJ re-signs in Minnesota on a crap team?
