Jets to move on from Wilson
#1
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jets-...er-report/

He's been really bad. But honestly, the kid was overrated coming out of college. The NFL is the league of 2nd and 3rd chances, but I wonder what anyone would give up for him. It won't be much and if the Jets ask too much, they'll end up with zero takers. I don't doubt there will be a handful of teams with interest, but honestly....if they are patient, what choice would the NYJ have ultimately other than cutting him outright? I think NFL teams are ready to cut bait much quicker on first round QB busts than at anytime in history.

Wow, that was fast.

I wouldn't be too tempted by Wilson. Like I said before, teams don't move on from #2 overall picks in only their 2nd season unless they are 100%--not 80, not 90--but 100% convinced he'll never be a starting NFL QB.  And the Jets know things we don't.

Totally agree. The rumor is he's very immature. Zero leadership. Kind of sheltered out there in Utah before the NFL, didn't do a lot of mingling with teammates in college.

Makes Mayfield look like a HOFer

I thought his game last Thursday was the most brutal performance at qb I've seen in years.  Then I watched the Malik Willis Titans on Saturday.

I would give him a chance to curate in Eagan for a 4th and compensatory pick based on performance. He wont have to start for 2 seasons.

Anybody else remember this image from Wilson's Draft Day?   Made me wonder instantly whether he was a good fit for NY where you have to be bigger than life.

Wilson spent his whole life as big man on campus...I mean the guy took TWO BYU cheerleaders to his high school graduatio.  All of a sudden he's thrust into the big lights of the NFL as well as the NY market and expected to contribute immediately.  His predraft analysis showed him having a big and accurate arm but struggling to get  through his reads with a tendency to just chuck it up when he was in trouble.  I also think he's a White, Suburban Mormon and probably wasn't ready for what is the NFL these days.  At least Kirk knows how to channel his inner awkwardness.

Would Wilson be better served in someplace like Minny with KOC's motivation and not being forced to be the answer?  Probably?  Can he overcome some of his fatal flaws?  Not sure.  He does have a gun and throws extremely well on the run.  There's talent

He was definitely the deer in headlights guy. NY is not the place for him. He came across as arrogant and entitled. What a waste of a draft pick

Wilson was a gun slinger in college and hasn't really displayed good decision making in the NFL.  The arm and ability to extend plays is there, but he's playing hero ball.  He rarely utilizes his check downs and forces balls downfield (for better or worse).  It's why he was benched and Mike White became the starter.  White doesn't have the same talent as Wilson, but he wasn't holding back the offense by making bad decisions.

IMHO usually where there is smoke, you'll eventually see the fire.
