Saw this yesterday, didn't think we needed anything more to be embarrassed about. I do wish they would release the name of who ever pulled the stunt. I have to think there are a few that aren't happy to have the moment mocked and would have a little fun of their own.

Well, I guess you can say goodbye to the idea of putting “send in” pictures of Vikings fans on the Jumbotron. Guess some people need to show how “clever” they are.
As usual, something nice that is being done will now be stopped, a hard-working employee called to task. Meanwhile legitimate Vikings fans / families / kids who would have the game experience of a lifetime, / recognition / now wont have that opportunity. Otherwise, I guess employees of the Vikings need to spend their time to “familiarize” themselves with all porn stars. A similar thing happened to my daughters friend in High School. Really sweet kid (had her in class, nicest kid in the world) that did the daily announcements. Kids would routinely send in “shout outs” for doing good things, being helpful, etc. That was up until someone put in the name “Nick Err”. Of Course no one caught it before hand, it was announced, and this nice kid was humiliated, teased / threatened / called a racist, etc. As a result shoutouts ended, and something nice came to an end because of some “lowest common denominator” human turd. Congrats asshat - In your selfish desire for a little attention, you ruined a good thing for everyone. Like always society has to cater to “the lowest common denominator”

They simply put up tweets honoring those that people sent in. Could have been some non-military stolen valor people listed as well. The only fool is the one who sent it in.

In retrospect my thread title is unsavory...
We're a military family ourselves (Navy) and while I found it funny as a prank, I can understand how others found it offensive. So if you were offended? You certainly have my apologies.

Quote: @purplefaithful said:Thank you for your service, and personally not offended - (military family also - Marine officers) Im just disappointed that people who do this shit cant look at what repercussions may ensue, and just “take the high road”. Imagine your a kid at your first Vikings game, and theres a picture of your family or your mom or dad up on the Jumbotron - what a neat experience that youll remember forever. But wait, “we dont do that any more”, because some clown had to ruin it for others. As usual. Frankly, Ill take a situation like what happened with an “off-putting picture”, if legitimate service members and their families continue to be honored - I hope the Vikings organization ignores the “idiots” of the world and continues to do the right thing in honoring service members, cancer survivors, etc. Take the high road Vikings, give the idiots enough rope to hang themselves. People of quality will recognize them for the pricks they truly are. (No pun intended)

Man, we've sure lost our sense of humor in society. Never thought you meant any ill will, PF.

I agree Sticky, peoples assholes are tight these days, tighter than maybe ever...You just never know what'll set someone off anymore.
I'd argue at times like this we all need more civility with each other too. I try hard, am good at it some days. @VG, I am not personally in the service, too young for Vietnam and too old thank goodness for anything in the middle east. My BIL and FIL were Navy men. Both buried with honors up here in Ft Snelling. |
