Roquan Smith to Baltimore
#1
Baltimore sends a 2d and a 5th to Chicago plus a vet LB. Great deal for Baltimore.

AJ Klein is the vet LB that is going to Chicago.

& Da Bears are paying all his salary above the vet minimum…

If only we weren’t division rivals. That would have been a good get.

OK, so if I were "rebuilding" I would probably try to shed high-salary players over, say, 28, 29. I'd save some money, collect a few draft picks and try to start over with a nucleus of good, young, cheap players. Hopefully, you draft well. It's not easy though...or likely.

Considering that, I just don't get why you trade a 25yo, two-time all pro on a rookie contract. HE'S your nucleus. Just pay the guy. How likely is it that you're going to find his equivalent with the draft picks you get in return? Answer: Not very.

Maybe there's something I'm not getting. But I've just never understand this.

He wasn't happy with the team when the traded,Mack.  He was really pissed off when they traded Quinn so I'm guessing shit hit the fan.

Losing Smith and Quinn would be akin to the Vikings losing Hunter and Smith.

This is gonna leave a mark. a big one.

As Jimmy said, Roquan's been PO'd since the Mack trade last year.  He wasn't going to sign an extension with them, so unload him for what you can get... and tank yourself into the Stroud/Young QB draft conversation.
